I feel like comparing Nunez to Rush may be a bit of a stretch.
wishing thinking which never hurts, but we’ll have to wait and see.

I am still in wait and see mode and will be for some time. I don’t judge new arrivals too harshly. I note that he can’t speak English or communicate with most of the team, or even Klopp. But fact is, so far he is not delivering at all, albeit he is lively and has some good runs.
Time will tell. Much too early to say if he will become a very good signing or not. But let’s be clear. 80 mil is way too much to spend on just an “okay” squad player, so let us hope he will become a success, because our club bet their money on him to become a star striker. Klopp really believes in him as far as I understand, so there is reason to think he may become as good as Salah (in form, not so far this season, as Salah isn’t very good at the moment) or Mane in time if you trust Klopp, and I do trust Klopp !
Crossing fingers and toes. Because he really, really need him to become a success.
I’m going to ramble on a bit here on the guy, a lot has been said in his short time here both inside and outside the club, some unfair some valid…The only question on my mind is how good will he be at LFC. The talent, the quality, the determination I don’t question.
The truth is our attack is going through a phase of transition, we’re having to find new ways to score as we haven’t really been able to set Salah away on goal as we’ve seen so frequently over the years but…but but but, I’ve been very encouraged from what I’ve seen, positive impact in the community shield, big impact in both goals against Fulham…what happened at the Palace game happened, I was actually there and I could see the runs he was making (likely off screen) when our defenders had the ball but going back to the red card, it was a moment of stupidity and that can quickly be learned from…at Everton we saw what he could do, almost broke the net with that volley & then Rangers which has been the most encouraging yet, we saw how comfortable he was operating on both flanks…& again the most pleasing aspect for me what the runs he was making which is where 3 of his 4 chances came…the 4th he showed the defender a clean pair of heels despite having a yard or 2 on him.
The other games he’s simply not had enough time to have an impact, (no idea what giving him 2 minutes the other day was all about) but overall he’s shown a lot more +ve than not.
Its frustrating that he got into those positions so many times and did not score, not only for him, but surely for the fans too. But in the long haul, its important that he has gotten into the positions and not scored now rather than him not being able to get into those positions at all. It means he is getting the fundamentals of the strategy and team play right. Finishing those opportunities hopefully is a matter of time and he needs to stay patient and trust in the system and the team and himself.
What I like about Nunez in the short cameos to date…
He does not look like a guy that can get marked out of a game as easily as some other players… not now, not in the future either. That in itself is a plus IMO
Yeah he’d need to cut his hair and grow a moustache for starters
The only player this century remotely comparable to Rush was Torres.
Luis Suarez says hello.
Or, in his case, hola.
Different style of player.
John Aldridge just smirks…knowingly
edit…my bad…missed the ‘this century’ bit.
Defended from the front and scored loads of goals. Very similar to Rushie and definitely a more all-round player.
In a much poorer team
Surely you can add Ali to that list as well
100% chance conversion rate.
I mean fuck…the comparison I was making was to the 19 year old Rush who struggled considerably when he first arrived on a fee bit enough that it put pressure on him.
The funny thing is, Rush looked more Spanish than Torres.
Limiescouse made an easy to follow point. Rush struggled for a while when he arrived, then it clicked, and we didn’t look back.
That’s the hope for Darwin Nunez, though obviously we all hope his adjustment period is shorter than Rushie’s.
I think the lack of a 'tash is significant.
Another good game. Slowly, he is getting into the groove. Keep up the good work.
2 goals, 1 assist in his first 267 minutes of epl action. The issue is the time missed for the red card and time taken to work him into the lineup, not his production on the pitch.
Think he will be just fine by the end of the season.
