Itâs reasonable to hold the view that when you are 3 vs 1 defender and keeper, you are in prime position to dominate the situation - you can draw defender in to create pass option, or fake a pass, or get better angle - in fact everything other than trying a lower percentage shot against a good keeper.
Look, Darwin I thought was excellent in harrying them and carrying the ball, and making a nuisance. Strikers need to be selfish. But be selfish by doing the right thing - use the advantage situation with two other players free to get yourself in better shot percentage position (fake the pass to get the defender to slide, or keeper to commit to you swaying in and out, etc).
He looked lively when he came on and caused them a few problems. Heâs trying too hard and making the wrong decision too often, but the criticism is over the top in my opinion.

Or the defender could well hold their nerve and not commit stupidly. Which is what happened.
Go watch a replay again, there was maybe only a tiny split second in which there was a window to pass to anyone else. There was literally no room to try to make the pass.
Nunez played the Milner role last night. Instead of disrupting and slowing the opposition attacks, he ensured that the opposition spares some battalions to guard him and not throw everything in the attack. There was a great dinx and pass across the goal too, only it was too fast for Trent.

Another impressive performance. A goal but 2-3 brilliant efforts that could have been goal of the season contenders. His pressing and tracking back was superb as well. Well done, Darwin!

He is growing into the Liverpool side and into his Liverpool career. Lovely header and two great strikes that deserved a goal too. Apparently he also recorded the fastest speed in the Prem so far this season. He is laden with threat and I was disappointed when he came off. Still, I can understand the caution, with Diaz and Jota out.
