Darwin NUNEZ: 2022/23

He’s an agent of chaos! Reminds me of Suarez in many ways.

He must be a nightmare to play against.

Once he improves his finishing he will be a monster.

He reminds of Torres one minute and Andy Carroll with a broken leg the next.

If we think of the goal scoring machine Jurgen eventually turned Lewandowski into after many many months of coaching on the training pitch… I can only anticipate that he will bring the best footballer out of Darwin Nunez that the lad himself could ever become.
IMHO, If we watch and wait without pre-judgment at this ‘too early’ stage, he might actually become the player we see once in a lifetime, and after all he does belongs to LFC :0)

That is the most accurate description of him I’ve read! I also can’t remember the last time I saw a Liverpool player take as many shots as him, literally from every angle, both feet and head.

As I said it’s Suarez, that’s what he used to do, smash it at the goal at any opportunity… He scored so many goals by the keeper not being set, or by a scruffy deflection.

Darwin is ace. Pace, power, shooting, left, right, heading. There’s a heck of a lot to like. He’s a bit raw, and will never be a silky looking player, but the more I’ve thought about that, the more I don’t care. There are loads of tidy players with a lovely touch… who will never be good enough for our level!

Darwin is chaos, intent, and laden with threat. There is a lot more to come from him, and it will be lovely to watch his Liverpool career progress. It is early days and he is still learning the language, the patterns of play, and also how to sync up with his teammates. When the pass is timed well for his runs, he wont be caught. When he and Mo learn to work together more, it will be devastating for opponents.

Keep shining fella, we are with you.

I’ve actually got another rendition if anyone’s up for it?

This ones actually to the tune of Metro Station Shake it

Jon Champion said it last night, and it’s something I’ve said before in regards to Curtis Jones, but sometimes people get caught up in discussing what a player can’t do rather than focusing on what they can do.

Nunez looks ugly and uncoordinated at times, but he’s also got lightning pace, great movement, he’s good in the air and has a high work rate. Raheem Sterling has had a successful career and he can barely kick a ball properly, but his other attributes more than make up for that.

In every game Nunez has played for us he has created multiple dangerous situations, even if he’s come off the bench. That’s a clear indicator of a player who belongs at the level for me.

It’ll only take some small/moderate improvement from this level to make him extremely good.

honestly feel that with his pace he’ll be a better winger than #9. which is convenient with both Diaz and Jota now out. Bench is going to get thin again.

need this kid to stay healthy

If we’re talking about Suarez it’s worth some of the less level headed people here remembering that he wasn’t the 30 goal a season monster from day 1 at the club. There was a lot of post and crossbar hitting in his first full season like we’ve seen with Darwin.

That isn’t to say he will emulate Suarez going forward, but should give pause for thought before binning him off as a failure.

Anyone binning him off is a fucking idiot. Carroll didn’t have a scintilla of the raw talent and pace this lad has.

A shame that all his shooting chances last night fell for him on his weaker left foot - the one that hit the post was a great effort.
Glad to see him not getting regularly caught offside last night either unlike some previous games.
He’s going to be frustrating at times but plenty for Jürgen to work with and develop.

He’ll be fine provided he gets a good service from midfield or out wide.

He’s looked really nervous previously when chances have fallen to his left. On some you could almost see him dreading the shot leading to how badly he fluffed it. Hitting that one that sweetly will hopefully shake out some of those doubts

Nunez being on the same amount of goals as Gabriel Jesus this season despite playing half the minutes is hilarious.

Loved the first one he took with his left in full run. If that goes in it will be the goal of the month

Well thank the lord for that :joy:

Was his best display and he was a nuisance until he went off.

Westham backline isn’t easily bullied but it reminded me a lot of Fulham when they just lost all sense and shape when he came on there.

My only issue is his touch on occasions but that’s fine, extremely unlucky not to have a second but maybe we’ve entered that phase of 1-0 wins
