Darwin NUNEZ: 2022/23

And some of you guys think my art was bad

I must admit Iā€™ve buried my head in the sand a bit regarding media coverag of us during our poor form (not that I Hate the criticism but I often just find it banal and lacking any real depth of knowledge) so I was surprised to return to the Guardianā€™s podcast and find out that ā€œthe majorityā€ of Liverpool fans think Nunez has been a bust.

Hasnā€™t he got 3 goals and an assist in a handful of games?

From what Iā€™ve seen heā€™s one of the most effective forwards in the league and has tonnes of potential to get better. Iā€™m pretty sure The Kop love him already too.

Which of the panel said that? Was it Barry?

Basically, he didnā€™t get a few hat-tricks when his team was on a high.

Such a shame that he was missing for the Bournemouth game. Heā€™d have scored a few against them Iā€™m sure.

Well weā€™ve got Forest next and he wonā€™t be missing for that, my guess is that heā€™ll make up for those missed games in this game alone.

7-0 with Nunez getting 5.

Remember I told you this.

I believe it was Jonathan Wilson.

Thats a bit of a surprise, I didnā€™t think he was given to such sudden exclamations.

Actuslly upon checking it was Jonathan Liew and that makes a bit more sense now.

Liew and Glendinning should go in the bin.

Given he was nursing a tight hamstring after the game and we only have three fit forwards, I think it would be quite irresponsible to start him again.

Well lets see what Klopp has to say in half hours time.

Just canā€™t catch a break can weā€¦?

Narratives tend to get set early on and once they do they stick. Palace was his first start and in that game we dropped points after he spurned a ton of good chances and got himself stupidly sent off. Anyone calling him a bust is an idiot, but its understandable there would be a groundswell of frustration and disappointment.

With his last couple of performances he has been able to show more of what value he will offer, but is going to take time to turn around that initiation narrative.

Another beautiful header from the big man, gives us that extra impetus from crosses and itā€™s nice to finally have a big man who is also a quality player and unlike the last big man we had actually moves about.

And an all round top performance, unlucky not to get a 2nd. Hopefully he can push on and maybe get 90 mins under his belt.

Crap simulation when he fell like a pussy, crap miss, good goal. Hopefully makes little steps all the time.

Thought I saw his face get hit?

Scored in last 4 starts.:clap::clap:

He did catch a forearm, about 17 minutes later he hit the deck.
