Could he have hit it any better ?

Reminds me of Jota somewhat when he first arrived.

Isak is a career 1 in 3 striker, not sure how he can be termed a natural finisher - unless we are just getting carried away with that debut against us.

Yes.

Iā€™m curious, how do you think he should have hit it better?

Didnā€™t watch it back but yeah, I remember thinking that he shouldā€™ve finished those situations better. Made a mess of the first and a better shot was needed at the second.

He was talking about the one shot from outside the box the keeper turned away for a corner. The point being it was a chance where he had time to think, chose a good option and executed it well

Yeah maybe we confused some situations.

When you look at the first 1-1 in which he failed to even get off a shot what you see is evidence less of someone who needs to act instinctually, but someone who maybe needs to take a breath before executing.

not using it as a stick to beat him with as it was a good moment, but, yeah, it was a fair bit away from the pidgeon hole, so yes, he could have struck it better.

look at where it would have gone if the keeper didnt save itā€¦again, most PL keepers make that save, even if it was a more difficult one than the Bobby header etc.

He should have done better his touch was bad, then again I think Salah had a similar one where his touch was bad and half the passes pinged off our players to about 10 yards away, looked like they were hungover.

noted the same, wouldnā€™t be surprised if the balls were at the high end of the inflation range (9-15psi, I believe is the rough range).

I would be curious to know what the EPL standard is for pre-match inflation though. I cannot imagine theyā€™d allow them to be all over the map. That said though, our manager quite particular about how hard the match ball should be when we played (believe we were pretty steady on 11-12psi.). both teams had to have a match ball ready home team gets used unless it ends up leaving the pitch and the away ball gets used until itā€™s returned to play.

Who knows was also the winter ball, kind of hope weā€™ve been training with that.

I know itā€™s silly but all things give you an advantage, mind you unlike say Ajax we just didnā€™t look for it at really anytime.

Iā€™m sorry I know Iā€™m just picking on him at this stage but Nunez has more defensive awareness than Fabinho ffs. Nunez is sprinting back towards our goal and Fabinho hasnā€™t even started moving yet, either doesnt sense the danger or doesnā€™t want to get involved.

Goodness me heā€™s been so bad this season.

What I find rather interesting is that itā€™s Salah and NuƱƩz both making that run back, while the midfield/defence is still further up.

Maybe Iā€™m overthinking it, but Iā€™m not sure itā€™s a coincidence that itā€™s our most rapid players who are also making the most effort. If you think about how the play evolves from that situation, it makes sense? If they score, thereā€™s not much we could have done anyway, not with the relative speed on counterattacks. If we win the ball back, we now have options to pass to further up the pitch (assuming of course this was done in a disciplined way, they should also then have found a way to position themselves optimally for this), or if we kill the ball through clearing it or the players out, we would have bought time for the slower players to get back.

In that sense, it leverages the relative speed advantages of our team (note that Firmino isnā€™t one of those whoā€™s motoring back), so that we can control the game better, in my opinion.

Conversely, if everyoneā€™s busting a gut to get back, not only might the additional bodies not make that much of a difference, it also compromises our ability to take advantage of any quick possession win to get the ball into safer places.

Or, I might just be barking up the wrong tree altogether.

Leave it out, you can clearly see Fabinho in full sprint at the start of the video.

Fuck sake ILLOK can you give it a rest with you anti-Fabinho biasā€¦

Love how you can only see the ball in the clip from 8 seconds onwards and doesnā€™t show by who or how it was turned over in the first place.
