My guess would be amicable dialogue has been taking place between the two clubs, and this official offer being reported, rather than an initial bid, is actually the amount they’ve agreed on already…

By upfront I meant the part of the fee that wasn’t bonus related, not that it would be paid all in one go. Sorry for the confusion.

Yeah, that was my guess too. I’m still a bit surprised to see an offer that high though particularly as I thought Joyce’s comments implied the asking price was a little high for us?

It didnt necessarily mean the price was too high. It can alternatively be read as us not being interested in participating in a situation where the price kept moving depending on who else was sniffing around.
Anyway, I’ve got somewhere to be and would appreciate if this could get wrapped up in the next 5 mins or so to allow me to go and down my shit.
