I dont think he is worth that fee, but yet again its not my money. My hope is that it does not take the club out of budget to fill our greatest need which is in the middle of the park

Let’s hope he’s better than our last Nunez.

Is the fee really that exorbitant though ? £80m in todays money for one of the world’s most promising young strikers. Sounds about right to me.

I wouldnt have thought it would. Our spending in recent years has been well managed. While our income should be significant this year following the CL and PL run plus two trophies. There are also monies to come from selling some players.

It’s about the same that City paid for Haaland, when factoring in agent fees, but I imagine that Nunez’s wages will be much more reasonable.

What’s taking them so long???

Is Edwards doing this deal or is he gone already?

Gordon’s leading it, with Ward.

I’m not sure on this fee seems a bit of an overreach for the level hes played at.

Please people, we need more of this sort of “why are we over paying for Salah? He was a flop at Chelsea and we already have Firmino, Coutinho, Mane” sort of energy. It’s the pre-signing negativity that really powers this machine.

You know who you are, now…

Even moreso when it’s €80m

am gonna take this as directed to me, since you replied to me.

I’m not sold on him.

Yes we need youth. No, I don’t know who would be a better option to replace Mane’s departure and maybe this kid is the right deal. for €80m, is he really the right guy though?

Dybala on a Bosman, still hasn’t signed anywhere…his last reported salary is ~£225k/wk

options…

Never heard of Nunez until we were linked.
That said im more impressed the club willing to fork out 80mil + on player cause our scouting is so good :+1:

Now, now in fairness to Semmy I also did see some piss-weak defending.

He scored two against Barcelona but that hardly counts thesedays. My Nan could get two against them and she died in 95.
His goal against Bayern Munich was pretty sloppy with the left back getting caught well out of position.
The goal against Ajax? He was stood in the middle of the penalty area and got a free header from six yards out.
Then they played against some two-bit outfit called Liverpool. In the home leg he was gifted a goal by the centre back falling over, then in the away leg he scored a pretty impressive looking finish but it was against some guy called Alisson and I’ve got no idea whether he is good or not.

Basically - you may be able to score in games against Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Ajax and Liverpool - that’s all well and good but what are you going to do against high level opposition? It’s fair to say he’s completely untested.

In all seriousness I get the hesitation/concern, he’s coming out of a “lower level” league (although its much better than it gets credit for) and he’s really only had one incredible season - last season wasn’t too shabby either mind you, 11 goals and 12 assists for a 21 year old.

Genuine question - is Dybala actually good? Anonymous whenever I have happened to see a Juventus game (it’s been a while though). Always been the epitome of the old “flatters to deceive” cliche for me.
