Ding Dong.....the US Politics Thread (Part 1)

Not being as inflammatory in terms of rhetoric, hopefully actions as well I guess.
The partisan nature of politics probably won’t change though, Biden was there for the Obama years, I guess he knows that or should know that.

Yes I had been talking about this here and to my friends in the US that the system is broken. That the system does not work in favour of the everyday Americans, it only favours the politicians and the parties.

Maybe one day, that will change.

In the meantime, we can vent our frustration by thrashing Man City tonight

I think him being towards the centre/right of the Democrats, and having close understanding with McConnell may help reduce the partisanship but obviously won’t remove it completely. As you say, him having experienced the Obama years first hand will have helped prepare him for the next couple of years.

The bigger difficulty will be to marry the practical side of what is possible to deliver with the expectations many people will have, particularly of those further to the left of him.

Before serving as Obama’s VP, Biden had the reputation in the Senate as one of the Democrats most able to work with Republicans. Indeed, that was a large part of the logic of asking him to serve as VP. Obviously, it did not play out, and the norms of the Senate have been as badly damaged as any in the past 12 years. But Biden will likely be trying to work directly with some of the Senate GOP to pass legislation. We will see how that works…I suspect the Democrats are already pivoting hard to competing for those 2 Georgia Senate seats. Rather unprecedented situation to have a President-Elect able to campaign, without the constraints of office.

It seems that politics is no longer about policies. It’s about who can trash talk the oponent better.

That video is ridiculous purely on the basis that you need to deliberately ignore what Trump has done.

Lots of words in those that suggest he wasn’t manning the keyboard. Somebody else is up to no good.

With the claim that there were a 100 million mail-in ballots in places like Philadelphia and Detroit, I am guessing the staffer who booked the Four Seasons did those tweets

If he was confident there was something in this he’d shut the fuck up and let the courts deal with it.

Didn’t he sleep through it all though? Pretty sure I read that about him. Thank fuck as well because when he’s awake he’s constantly fiddling kids

I think he is actually utterly incapable of that.

TRUMP SHOULD’VE WON THIS ELECTION HE SHOULD BE THE PRESIDENT THIS IS RIGGED RIGGED RIGGED IM LEAVING THIS COUNTRY AND MOVING TO ALASKA WITH MY FAMILY

I’ve seen this dozens of times (bot, I believe) all over the place.

I have no idea how these things work…is it a bot? Or is this some meme ripping the piss out of him?

Please explain.

I think it is both now. There would appear to have been a bot version, a viral Trumpist version from real RWNJ accounts, and now a mocking meme.

I suspect the leaving this country and moving to Alaska one is in the latter category.
