One of the appellants was an Orthodox Jewish congregation that had been barred from holding a wedding ceremony with 3000 attendees. I think that speaks for itself.
Cue super-spreading events on a regular basis from now on. Well done, Supreme Court (or rather, Court of Supreme Imbeciles).

As always, these things aren’t about the people who are voluntarily already following public health guidelines, but those who think being asked to so is an affront to their freedom.
Yep, that’s stupid (the wedding ceremony with 3000 in attendance).
But sometimes, because we are generally irreligious, we are unfair to the religious community. Most houses of worship have reduced capacity, social distancing, mask mandate in place, and online services offered.
I have a good friend who is a pastor, and he tells me attendance all round at churches is way down since pre covid times, as parishioners are judging the situation for themselves and staying away. Online services are offered to try to keep a sense of community and cohesion… it’s something, but not the same.
He says for those that do still come, they are socially distanced, wearing a mask, and staying within the capacity guidelines the state has in place, even though here in Indiana the Governor has practically said they could claim religious exemption and ignore the rules.
My take is most churches are being sensible and trying to navigate their way through a difficult time, like business owners, and everyone else.
Obviously there will always be some loons though!
There are uncaring and selfish types among all sorts, religious or otherwise.
The pandemic is a horrible thing, difficult situation for everyone. Based on my friendship with one church leader, most of them seem to be handling it well, with reasonable precautions in place and so on, per official guidelines.
There will always be rule breakers and loons, be that religious types, football fans celebrating, politicians driving around the UK, etc.
How can we get the mods to change this thread to US politics? Election is long gone.
Separation of church and state…
That’s either embarrassing or maybe it’s deliberate, given how much the club likes to sue for infringement of intellectual property rights?!
Embarrassing for me as i didn’t notice it until i was about to get stuck in
This yours mate? 50th birthday?
Yes,how did you know 50th?thought i cut that out
You mentioned you were 50 in a recent post, just joined the dots! Many congratulations btw!
Cheers mate,appreciate that
That seriously needs a double GIF response
Yeah, is that a real person?
I feel you are making a defense against an criticism no one is making. Under other circumstances I would argue against religion per se, but that is not the point here. The criticism here is over the segment of the religious community who are arguing for preserving their right to public ceremony over public health, and the government entities supporting that and making us all less safe as a result.
Small hands, small desk, small brain…
