Ding Dong.....the US Politics Thread (Part 1)

Correct, no one but pathetic boot lickers will consider the US credible and that goes for more than just Soft power:

Everyone knew that Trump would act like this, that´s not a surprise tbf. I would like to think they are prepared for whatever shitshow is happening now?!

Him coming so close, Republican senate, even if Biden wins, this is a cataclysmic disaster and not at all in any possible way a repudiation of Trumpism that polls hopefully pointed to. It is bad in almost every way it can be bad and that’s before Trump has won.

I am massively dejected. I was fairly confident Biden would win, feared it would be like this but maybe slightly better, yet narrow. We shall enter uncertain times or interesting times, as the Chinese would say :frowning:

That last Tweet doesn’t make sense.

Why wouldn’t his raw numbers go up if there has been increased turnout?

I think its the point I was making before, that Clinton had 2 % more of the popular vote.

This have stayed the same with Biden, and perhaps Bidens popular vote might only be 1.5% higher

Na, come on, that´s not the way i see it. I´m disappointed as well but you are a bit too negative imo. It´s not over until it´s over, let´s wait and see.

I think the narrative/assumption was that more people were flocking to vote in order to get Trump out of office. Doesn’t seem to have been the case.

A narrow win for Biden is not enough, Livvy. That is how I see it. It is true that I am negative though. I am exasperated beyond belief.

Political polls just don’t work like they should in the US. Problems with the data.

I am minded to disagree. Biden might be handicapped by not having control of the senate, if he were to win, but it would still be much more beneficial than having Trump in power. Trump winning effectively lets him argue that he has a mandate to do whatever he wants. Can Congress realistically stand alone against that?

Loeffler may lose her Senate seat - was 5% behind the Democrat challenge with 10% of votes still to be counted.

Even if Trump wins we will be oké. Lot of folks predicted WW3 after he won in 2016 even that they would leave the country, guess what all those ‘celebrity’s’ still live in the US en WW3 did not break out.

We will be fine, if the US wants Trump, let them deal with it, we here in Europe have other fish to fry.

Yes, it would be worse with a Trump victory for sure. But it is degrees of horrible I would argue.
Anyway, I decided to sleep a couple of hours now. Will be back later. Lack of sleep not helping my mood in any case.

This has been reported in the German media as well. Democrats are well prepared for all eventualities. Trump’s reaction was predictable and he will go on, spreading lies and hate, that’s not a surprise to anyone.

I wonder whether last week’s GDP figures have helped him here. Part of the reason Coronavirus was such a big dent in his re-election hopes was because of its affect on the economy and jobs. However, we saw a trend of falling unemployment a couple of months ago and the latest GDP figures showed a rebound of 33% - although it comes after a very sharp fall and so was expected, it would allow him to represent an economy on the up again (which he did)
