Ding Dong.....the US Politics Thread (Part 1)

Trump has already said he isn’t giving additional funding to Democrat states (but will Republican ones) - that isn’t going to be pleasant for them.

From the NYT count…Nevada, Arizona and Wisconsin would be 270 yeah??

And Georgia sorry.

Not sure. Didnt Biden need in addition to Nevada and Arizona 2 of the remaining four - wisconsin, Georgia, PA and North Carolina? or was that without Nevada?

I’m a bit nervous about the Arizona vote. local republicans claim that the vote was front loaded from democrat voters and that the remaining votes will come from Republican heavy areas.

Read the opposite.

NYT has tilting Biden.

What a shitshow.

Sheesh…the BBC election map has Trump gaining 283 electoral college votes (270 being the magic number), and potentially 293 with Wisconsin as there’s now less than 10,000 votes in it there.

If Trump does win, did the Republicans win the race or did the Democrats lose it? I’m baffled.

Yes, Polls have Biden leading by 5k - but republicans think it can be overturned in same way Dems are confident of their remaining votes overturning Republican leads in other states.

If Arizona, Nevada and Wisconsin are confirmed as Democrat, then I thought they only need one of the remaining 4 states and in Georgia and North Carolina look pretty close - Democrats were pretty confident the remaining votes in Georgia would be enough to take the lead there.

Has Arizona not already been confirmed. If so Nevada,Wisconsin and Georgia would get it for Biden. The latter 2 look very tight,

Some of the TV stations have called Arizona for Biden, but his lead there was only 5k when i checked earlier and there are still some votes to follow, and his lead had narrowed. It has been suggested by local republicans that the majority of those remaining votes are from republican heavy areas - hence my reticence. It would be just typical given events this year for Biden to win Wisconsin and Georgia, only to see Arizona flip back at the last minute.

Associated Press calls Arizona for Biden. But only 2 other states are where Biden is leading. Wisconsin with 94% counted as Biden having less than 10K votes more than Trump and Nevada where only 67% is counted and Biden has 25K votes more only. But with these 2 states, it will only add 16 more seats to Biden bringing him to 254 seats which is not enough. As of now AP has Trump leading in all other states albeit some leads are really slender.

Biden is up by 130k votes with 250k left to count, according to the Governor of Arizona.

There’s less than 8,000 votes in it for Nevada (Biden leads but the gaps been closing) and less than 8,000 votes in it for Wisconsin (again Biden leads but the gaps been coming down). Trumps got a 100,000 lead in Georgia and is expected to win that state. He’s also ahead in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Alaska.

I think if Wisconsin and Nevada comes in for Biden. It seems only 3 states, Georgia, Michigan and Penn would have enough seats for Biden to secure but as of now, the lead for Trump in Penn is really high although only 67% is counted. For Georgia its almost done with 94% counted but Trump has 100K votes more. For Michigan, its 84% counted and Trump has 200K more votes. So Penn would be the most realistic for Biden?

Not sure the gap has been closing in Wisconsin, Biden was forecast to win by 8% in but has been behind for most of it, so has only just gone in front.

Trump has nailed alaska - they are 75% in his favour. Dems are 2.5% behind in Georgia but with a lot of Dem votes still expected as the delays have been in Democrat favoured areas (and there are still postal votes to count) I’ve posted above just a couple of minutes ago a tweet from Silver on Michigan

Taking a break from the numbers, I have one question. Has there ever been a movement mooted before that the USA be broken up into two or more as separate independent countries? Just curious whether this has been seriously brought up before considering how fragmental the country has been.

Think he’s too far back. He’s nearly 700,000 votes behind Trump in Pennsylvania after 74% of the vote has been counted. That leaves only 1.8m votes left to count and he needs to get at least 1.25m of them (nearly 70%).
