He hasn’t said ‘girly man’.
Ripped off.
HAHAHAHAHA
I had to just turn it off.
Conan’s sword?? WTAF?
Still…pretty funny that the Donald is being called out by the Terminator.
American politics, hey?
Yeah I just think Biden has 2 massive things to address.
Trying to calm the whole country down
Looking to set a direction from which he continues with a second term or someone else takes up the reins.
Problem is that if you see saw between parties the whole plan gets ripped up and you start from scratch.p
And so it begins. This is my worry.
Fuck yeah. With the whole country on fire I forgot about that
It’s flag waving genius, can he be our priminister please?
He will move a bit to the right I am afraid. I am not sure he must, but I do think he will, and regard it as the safest political option for stability. Because that’s, I think, his nr. 1 priority, stability and gradual restoration. Then again, he did consider Bernie Sanders for a minister position, though they both agreed that his presence in the senate was too important during this moment.

I think he will go to the left on some policies, but I doubt we will see an actual push for Universal Health Care for instance. The corporate tax is likely to get up to Obama levels again though. But we shall see. Biden owes both ex-republicans and those on the left in his party. I think the Democratic party wants to try to keep the ex-Republican voters if possible. Crucial for the next election after all.
I don’t think he really considered Bernie. Of course, I have no proof. Purely my opinion. But I did see Bernie on CNN a few weeks before that saying he wanted a Cabinet labor position and the VT governor would replace his Senate position with another Dem.
We shall see.
You may be right. I may have been a political prudent call, just to explain why he didn’t choose him etc. and then he may just spin it now (would be disappointing with an incoming president starting the lies and spin before he is even in office though), but it would raise eye brows if this is a lie since it can be countered by Sanders and he hasn’t done so:
“I did give serious consideration to my friend Bernie Sanders for this position,” Biden said at an event announcing more economic appointments, including Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo as commerce secretary and Boston Mayor Marty Walsh as labor secretary.
“But after Tuesday’s results in Georgia … Bernie and I agreed – in fact, Bernie said we can’t put control of the Senate at risk with a special election in Vermont,” Biden explained.
I don’t think Scott would feel a great deal of obligation as a Republican to replace Sanders (an Independent) with a Democrat. A bit of a crap shoot, really, which is likely why Biden did not like the range of possibilities.
Just a heads up, because this will likely be in the US news tomorrow if it materialises (and it most probably will) and will be viewed by the US press, who is remarkably good at spinning everything geoolitical actors do as “in response to the US”, as a challenge to Joe Biden. But DPKR party congres is party congress.
And of course, partly it will be, but this had happened regardless, ever since Kim Jung Un decided that Trump wasn’t serious in his rapprochement. New weapons will likely be on show, and maybe we will have a new ballistic missile test incoming soon, as there is no reason for North Korea to not test really.
I just remember this discussion. But yes maybe it was all hogwash:
Scott has said that he would fill Sanders’ seat with an independent who would caucus with the Democrats, as Sanders does.
“I don’t have to, but I want to make sure we do things in the traditional way, and that’s to appoint someone from the same party, and also, you know, has the same type of approach as well,” Scott said at a news conference Oct. 23.
Sorry: I see your point, @Arminius. I should have said replace with someone who would caucus with Dems and not specifically a Dem.
I don’t think Scott would appoint a Republican. But an independent might run the risk of being, you know, independent.
There is also the matter of the special election that would follow. It would not surprise me to see Sanders join Biden’s Cabinet in 2022.
It is sort of startling to see how many of these radicalized members of the military are from the USAF. With a large evangelical centre at Colorado Springs, one wonders if the Air Force Academy has been a center for radicalization. At first cut, I would have guessed the USMC would have the most right-wing culture, but it is also quite racially integrated now, and the officer corps would come from either Annapolis or ROTC programs - and navies generally tend to be more politically moderate than other arms.
This is better than anything the man ever did in Hollywood, impressively personal and honest. I have my objections concerning the obvious “American exceptionalism” stuff, but it doesn’t matter, this was great. He says all the right things and since it is the US where form matters often more than substance, he says it in the right way:
Gets the RWNJs right in the Conan pyjamas. He knows his target audience.
Sanders was my choice and I still think the natural response to the situation is someone like him, but big business wont like it and big business is democratic too. The disparity in wealth inequality and equality of opportunity is at the root of it; when people lose hope they resort to more desperate means. Reducing wealth inequality is far more attractive over the long term than a weaponised Hickville. I do firmly believe Trumps far right neo-nazi followers are steadily going to disappear, because their position is fundamentally violent. Peace always wins the long game.
