Ding Dong.....the US Politics Thread (Part 1)

These are policy issues where the arguments being made have varying levels of legitimacy. These are what we’d expect to have salience and to be debated in a normal election cycle. I wont do that because this isn’t that. This is the next election cycle after which one of the two major parties was involved in a multi-pronged effort to sow distrust in the electoral process in an effort to then subvert said process. And once the depth of this plan became apparent the party had about 1 day of doubt about it before jumping in with both feet.

Haha, that’s not true. It took Lindsey Graham two days.

She is a governor now.

What the fuck is wrong wth the brains of these voters.

Arkansas Governor, I expected. How the fuck the Georgia Senate race is this close is beyond me.

Early days but it feels like the Democrats are holding up better than expected.

Where’s that red wave I was told I’d wake up to??

Did Elon tweet yet??

Fetterman projected to win in Pennsylvania.

That means the Dems most likely hold the Senate.

Red wave ? ha ha … fuck off nazis.

Did you hear Trump had threatened de Santis not to run in 2024 ?

I had not.

I was just reading the replies to Fetterman’s tweet claiming victory.

Boy o boy wowee…there are some right cunts in America.

Naive question, but how come that some states aren’t voting apparently? Texas for instance?

So Republicans are taking control of the House, as expected.

It goes in cycles. All the House seats are contested every two years , but Senate seats only once every six years. Just depends which seats have reached their time limits.

Probably , but with nowhere near the majority they had hoped for.

I’d have been (pleasantly) suprised if Repubs hadn’t won the house. The senate was always going to be the close race.

I’m generally happy so far though. I’m sure many voters aren’t in love with the current administration, but for the Democrats to potentially retain the Senate despite Covid and the general economic state, speaks volumes about the general mood of the population with regard to the alternative.

Just hope the Dems can come up with a more viable candidate than Biden or Harris for the next election.

Yeah holding the house was always going to be nearly impossible. Dems have actually made some remarkable gains in Ohio for example which will soften the extent of Republican majority.

Governership races have gone well, Dems making gains.

Not beyond the realms of possibity that Dems increase their majority by one in Senate, which would actually be huge.

The electorate waking up to the fact that Trump needs to fuck off?

And I am asking this in full knowledge of the fact that you need to be careful what you wish for…

The female voters not wanting their wombs to end up as Government property is probably a factor in these midterms

Am I seeing this right, there’s a possibility the Democrats might actually gain a seat in the Senate?
Ha ha

Let’s hope there’s a showdown between Trump and DeSantis. Could be hugely damaging for the Republicans.
Trump will not go quietly, that’s for sure.
