USA is prime example of what happens when an electorate is not “informed”
Which flavour of insane do you prefer, American Standard or the Florida Special? Epic
It’s looking like Democracy is alive and well in America, in spite of Bill Maher’s comments. Some key points.

Trumps candidates generally not doing so well.
A. Hershel Walker (who might still win eventually) running 5 percentage points behind the Republican governor of Georgia.
B. Two of three battleground election denier Secretary of State (oversees elections) have lost.
C. Kari Lake, election denier candidate for governor of Arizona, is behind (not sure why it takes Arizona so long to count their votes).
D. Mehmet Oz. Buh-bye.

No election violence.

Trumpism seems on the wane. Ron DeSantis won big in Florida and Republicans (media types anyway) seem to be flocking to him. If he runs and runs hard, he’s going to give Trump all sorts of trouble.
I have a feeling that DeSantis is more dangerous long term, but not sure whether he can inspire the same bizarre messianic fervour. Trumpists are unlikely to forgive anyone who seems to have caused their hero’s downfall. Let’s hope they destroy each other.
Republicans will win Senate seats in Nevada, Alaska and Wisconsin. Mark Kelly holds his seat in Arizona. It’s all going to come down to that runoff in Georgia. Think of how much coin has been spent on that seat in the last two cycles. Wow. The most expensive Senate seat in American history. If Dems hold it, the Senate remains split.
Why? How? He’s a tough right-winger, for sure, but Trump’s a megaphone for lunacy.
lol at Jonathan Pie calling the red wave a pink splash…
You think Nevada is definitely going Republican ?
I do. Those are big leads with 80% of precincts reporting. The governor of Nevada, Democrat Steve Sisolak, angered a lot of people by joining an informal confederation with California, Oregon and Washington on COVID protocols, which he left in place far too long. It really hurt a lot of people’s livelihood. That’s why he is on the way out and Republicans are resurgent in Nevada, IMO.
EDIT: Nevada is also the one battleground state where an election denier has won secretary of state.
Cunt vs. Cunt, wow, America got talent.
I saw some Walker news leading up to the election…i thought he was the but of some jokes in the election…
And come to find out, people are voting for him!!! Watched election results yesterday and couldn’t believe he was actually in it.
People are insane.
This is great. There are a LOT of weirdos who favour Trump over anything. If GOP turn on him and create a split over him and DeSantis and spend the next 2 years ripping each other to shreds, that would be delightful.
I resigned myself to a disappointment, trying keep up now.
This is surprisingly close now, wow.
I watched a German documentary some days ago about some usually Conservative voting women, now switching secretly blue for their daughters. But… Psst don’t tell their husbands
Lauren Boebert is struggling in her race for Colorado’s 3rd district. Considered one of the safest Republican seats in America, she entered the night a 97% chance of winning but trails by over 3000 votes with 93% reported.
If you don’t know who she is… look her up. She’s a straight up white supremacist.
Please don’t jinx it
Fuck.
How do you see Georgia going in a run-off ?
Boebert was another one who’s Christmas card was gun-saturated. Peace of the Season to you. Feck off and get a real job. Great news.
Will be very close. So much money is going to flood Georgia airwaves that the average citizen may consider reading books again.
Recall in 2020 both Georgia Senate seats went to runoffs. So much money was spent. Dems won both seats, largely, many analysts feel, because of Donald Trump’s harsh pressure on the governor and secretary of state.
If control of the Senate is in the balance (as it seems it will be) turnout will be very high. Hard to predict.
Until people put their name to this it will be pointless. The same unnamed sources were saying the same thing in 16 and 20. Everyone wants it to be someone who takes him down so they can step in once the mutually assured destruction is complete, but if no one is willing to stand up and take the fire, comitting to their own demise (short term) Trump will walk to the nomination again. I genuinely think the biggest chance of him not getting it is dying because I dont think there is anyone in the party committed enough to him not getting it to stand up.
His supposed normalness is a press fabrication. It’s a reflection of how bad they are at their jobs that they simplify narratives that much - orange man bad therefore non orange man (different orange man?) good. It’s also a reflection of how much the press coverage a leader gets is based on what they say rather than what they actually do.
He is leader of the most corrupt state government in the country and his leadership has made it even more lawless than normal, even stepping past what people in his statehouse were willing to do. Martha’s vineyard is the one front in people’s mind, but that is just one illustration of the absurd way he has used his office. Ghost candidates, illegal gerrymandering (that he drive, over ruling his state house), numerous other actions that are known violations of the constitution but done performatively in the expectation he can either bully his way to a win or the press he perceives as positive for doing the thing is more important than the blow back from ultimately losing the case in court (on tax payer money using high priced external law firms), outrageous politicization of technocratic positions in government, the Geobeels like shit stirrer who runs his PR office. He is everything a Trump administration wanted to be, just with the ability to string a sentence together coherently. He is only a return to normal if we deem normal using your office as a weapon against your opponents for personal gain.
