Yes, good question. I’ve seen comments that Trump has gained voters in nearly all demographics apart from white male where he’s lost voters. Is that in absolute numbers or is that an actual % of votes from a specific demographic? I can understand it if it’s absolute numbers given the much higher turn-out but I can’t rationalise that if it’s a proportion of actual voters (given he’s losing - surely the white male vote doesn’t count for that much)

US is a great example of how the people in power have always shared the idea of keeping the majority of population as uneducated as possible so the majority of policies that undermines the rights of the people wouldn’t receive as much scrutiny. The system just works in a way that they have few of the best and most progressive schools in the world to produce a small percentage of very intelligent people to lead over the masses that go to the public school system which is probably one of the worst in the world.

Actually had to work on an appeal last week where the student (a final year MBBS) did not know he had been doing Single Best Answer exams for the last five years, rather than Multiple Choice.

Funding is a problem with the schools in many areas, but it goes way beyond that. And the schooling is a symptom not a cause. Everything in this country is politicized and that means that lots of things are done in bad faith for political motives that need to be done properly for society to operate functionally.

It really depends on how the youth vote figure was come by, is it from the Exit Polls? which aren’t really that reliable ask MA,GA,PA,MI and so on (Due to Mail in voting) or is it taken from polling? Again hmmm.
State polling isn’t particularly out, oddly enough some of these partisan pollsters will point to their figures but when you make it up for Michigan and get in wrong and make it up for say North Carolina you’ve got 50/50 on a hunch.

At least based on the preliminary data, he seems got a better share of most non-white groups than he did last time. Part of that is reversion to the mean because of how terribly he did last time. Part of it is 4 more years of normalization. But a big part of it is that issues of race are way more complicated than many white people view it as. Lots of outsiders will look at kids in cages at the southern border and assume that means Trump is fucked with the latin vote, but it doesnt work that way. The reasons are complicated and not easy to talk about, but the reality is in texas there is a large community of Right wing nationalist Americans of Mexican descent who would have supported the Trump policy. Go down there and you will see that the vast majority of people who work on hte ground in border protections are mexican, and they are often just as militant as any anglo. This is an avenue Trump put a lot of time and money into over the last 12 months, And, for all the talk of Biden supposedly only offering a reason to vote for him that he isnt trump (that is bollocks), almost all of this outreach by Trump was scare tactics about what Biden would do with immigration and “law and order”.
