The Dems need to make Puerto Rico a state.
Maybe make California two states as well, and get 4 Senators from there?

Sure, but a vote in florida is still a vote in florida. The point is Sanders had an incredibly effective way of reaching hispanic voters. givne how badly Biden did among anti-communist latinx people in South Florida, the theory of the case is that bernie couldnt have done much worse with these groups while using their well oiled latin outreach machine to actually get more latin voters from other communities.
But the point was not that Bernie would have won. But that bernie had amazing success among latinx communities in large part because he approached the demo the way the latin experts say you need to but that the establishment still hasnt figured out.
The conventional thinking is that the Libertarians take quite a bit more from potential Republican than potential Democrat, unusually for third party candidates.
It’s not up to the Dems. Even if Washington agreed, it would still be up to Puerto Rico to decide for themselves. Two misconceptions that appear to have slipped into the national consciousness if that it would be slam dunk that they would say yes, and that they would be a reliable Dem vote, and neither is very solid.
Yes, that would be my guess as well. Interesting then…might have Jorgensen to thank after this is all over!
I would be willing to bet a substantial sum that very few of those people live in Wayne County, and definitely not in Detroit.
Roughly a third every two years, on a six year cycle. As SYBM points out, smaller cohort - but on the other hand, it is one where the Republicans are clearly on defence.
Breaking news…
Apparently the number of outstanding mail-in ballots for Philly has gone up.
LOL
Rudy and Eric are prepping for Part Deux as I type…
I assume you read the article.
The point he is making is that despite almost bungling into a war with Iran, despite toadying to various dictators, despite his catastrophical handling of corona, despite his absurd amount of lying, and despite being shown that he absolutely not changed after becoming president like some thought he would; almost half the electorate still voted for him. His point is that the moral and intellectual rot among Trump voters is probably beyond repair and that even when shown clearly over 4 years what Trump is, they still voted for him.
Thom Nichols never predicted a big win, he predicted this but with slightly higher swings to Biden. But in no way did he predict a big Biden win like many others. He is still disappointed in his fellow Americans though. Also, it is important to hammer into Democrats that this was in reality no win. Not the win they needed anyway. All sense of victory euphoria must be purged.
There also a huge number of South Florida mail-in ballots that were never delivered and cannot not now be counted under Florida law. That makes it look more like a block vote.
But the Cubans were never available. That community is bedrock Republican.
They are now trolling Tramp
A SoCal would be much more likely to go Republican at times.
I have been away for half the day, but when I check in to Guardian, the numbers apart from Georgia are almost all the same. What happened with the counting ?
I did, and I agree with him. I just is a piece that also could have been written at any point in the last 4 years, or even during the last campaign given how clear these things were even then. I guess my point is the outcome of this election hasnt revealed anything that wasn’t already apparent.
I think my second point is also still relevant - I don’t think it is useful to treat the moral rot as being the same as the intellectual rot that has produced this. You cannot fix moral repugnancy. You can fix factual misunderstandings, but I dont know practically how we do that in this media/social media environment.
Go Trump Go!
Oh shit…wrong thread.
