The suit looks ace, not sure about that other thing he had on.

If Dom were English, Brazilian, Argentinian, etc, or played for one of the Manchester clubs, he would be universally recognised as one of the best midfielders in the world.

He’s absolute mustard and will only get better.

Not enough of his highlights here…

I’m struggling to articulate this, but I find it so odd, fascinatingly so, how little competition we had for his signature. This is a fella who has been on everyone’s radar since he was an 18 year old in Austria. The disconnect between how well known a talent he was, how good everyone seemed to acknowledge he was, and total lack of overt interest there was of bigger teams signing him is something I cannot get my head around. I know earlier in his career he played further forward and so his relative lack of goals might have put people off, but every time you saw him he passed the eye test in a way that made it seem pretty likely he’d be able to step up another level without much difficulty.

Given the apparent mess we were in this summer, losing out on CL and Bellingham, you would think if this deal had previously been in the bag that teams would have given it a go anyway because of that.

Was listening to SiriusXM FC football show this am, and heard Neil Barnett say that James Maddison was PL player of the year, so far. I almost spit out my coffee.

Maddison can’t hold Dom’s jock strap! Truly amazes me how underappreciated Sozbos game is, but I’m fine with that. Let him continue to dominate in relative obscurity.

I was under the impression he was really injury prone a few years ago - didn’t he have back to back long term injuries?

Could also just be a lack of imagination from scouts. Again when we signed him there was talk of him being a bit of a floaty 8/wide player. Obviously for Liverpool the idea was always an 8/AM role but maybe other clubs didn’t see that roundness to his game - which is pretty astonishing given how solid he is on pretty much every aspect of the game.

He seemed pretty much talked about as going to Newcastle but for some reason it never happened (I assume he didn’t want them).

He had caught my attention for many reasons and so I had watched him more than usual and I genuinely was concerned if he had gone there. When we suddenly bid his release clause I was delighted, he’s a special talent.

He signed for Leipzig in the winter window and had a hip problem then that meant he didnt play for them until the start of the next season, but other than that he’s been fine. He then played pretty much every game for them the next 2 season and so maybe it just took that long for clubs to get passed the injury prone tag

Dear Dom,
