Did a quick Google and it looks like he sings with a band called Staind who had a successful album in the early 2000s. I vaguely recall something but not exactly my sort of thing. Seemingly his personal views mark him out as a bit of a tit.

Rock music has always had a conservative side. It’s early pioneers were hardly left wing radicals and there have been strong strands of misogyny and racism throughout its history. Even the hippies were often libertarians who later became part of the Reaganite free market movement.

I was thinking more along the lines of rampant drug and alcohol use and groupies. Strange how over the years conservative has come to mean immigration, racsim and right wing.
Fuck anything that moves, snort up a storm, be insensible for large periods, hate immigration and think Republican. Conservative baby.

Taking drugs and abusing vulnerable underage girls seems to be very much part of the conservative lifestyle.
It’s actually a very interesting topic. There’s a perception that Rock ‘n’ Roll is rebellious and anti authoritarian, which it is, but it’s not necessarily egalitarian. It grew up, largely, in the Southern US, and its founders were steeped in fundamentalist Christianity and the antebellum attitudes of that region. Even the most flamboyant of the early rockers, Little Richard, was deeply conflicted about his own sexuality, and flipped from camp outrageousness to stern Biblical morality throughout his life.
It’s a fascinating subject and could be equally discussed in the Music or History threads.

Cracker Barrel, a struggling company, has a leadership change who change their logo. The right believe this is either woke gone mad driven by VC firms who prefer to be woke than make money. Or a false flag operation to coax the right into a terrible over reaction, which they are now falling for.

I listened to a few episodes of a history of music podcast you recommended a while ago. It was a deeper dive, at least for a novice like me, but fascinating. Just reading your post reminded me to get back to that. I vaguely remember it was a huge body of work so whoever was behind it, top marks to them.

It’s remarkable how many times his arguments were pretty much verbatim what these high profile rw influencers were saying. I’m genuinely curious whether he was dishonest about how closely aligned he was to MAGA, or whether he was a mark and has just been played by these propaganda accounts.
One of the key give always was him not just buying the Sydney Sweeney outrage, but presenting as the left getting upset about a hot woman looking sexy. There is no way anyone could believe that unless their only source of info was RW influencers and Fox News

It’s not that hard to imagine what he would say. It would be something like this:
“I don’t agree with everything he says, but this here shows how out of touch the rabid extreme left in the Democratic party is, when they force a traditional US brand to change name, to please Extreme Left Wing Karens.
This is exactly what the ordinary American on the street hates and it is absolutely insane that the Democratic party slaves to the Extreme Left Activist Wing in this instance as well. They really want Trump to be president forever!”
