āTheyā are the winners and are rewriting history.
Whatās of greater worry and sadness is the lack of reaction from press, institutions, ā¦, well just about everyone.
I think English has to be your first language to realise it. It is archaic and out of sync. In my opinion, this is a false flag of quite prodigious proportions and that supposed text exchange is literally ticking all the boxes of what MAGA wants to see; gay, transgender, left etc.
Yes it is not what was said, but how it was said. It is like picking up a Perry Mason book from the 30s and reading how the author of that time would have written a letter from a suspect.
I think the least conspiratorial explanation is this was a planned distraction from the shooter and the roommate. But why? Maybe to try to give the roommate cover? Maybe to just extend the trolling? I have no idea. Iām not going to plant a flag in the ground on this but it is suspect as hell.
This is a report from May on a deal between the US and UAE that gave them expanded access to next gen computer chips in return for the fabulous promises of investing into America
There is now lots of reporting that the most significant part of that investment was a $2B investment into the Trump family crypto business. This is Eric defending it
Relevant context for the current crack down on what constitutes inciting violence.
The day of the shooting Matthew Dowd, a W Bush strategist, acknowledged the divisiveness of Kirkās rhetoric when finding out live on air about the shooting and was immediately fired after being condemned for victim blaming.
As posted here a couple of days ago, Karen Attiah was fired from WaPo for a series of posts highlighting the lack of response to school shootings and again referencing Kirkās racist rhetoric.
Yet on Fox one of their morning show hosts literally suggested that you can deal with the problem of homelessness by giving them involuntary lethal injections. No one even blinked an eye. He apologized a couple of days later, but it was a WEIRD apology and indicated that maybe it shouldnt be considered for ALL homeless. Then a day or two later this happened and there are no serious calls at all for him to lose his job over inciting violence 13 people hurt in 2 mass shootings at Minneapolis homeless encampments on the same day - ABC News
The party that did and refused to apologize for Jan 6th has no leg to stand on over complaints about violent rhetoric leading to political violence.
How do you come back from that? Your society seems to be hopelessly broken. I donāt want to sound like Cassandra, but as @Arminius pointed out above, there is a big chance that there will be big trouble before it maybe gets better.
A few weeks ago, I met a particle physicist from a university in Philadelphia, who comes at times to Switzerland in order to make research work at CERN. He came with friends to us for dinner, and we discussed the situation of course. He said that if he was ten years younger than he is (around sixty), heād definitely come to Europe. His work gets impeded to the point that he considers retiring early. Fear plays a part, because his area is more and more considered among the āuselessā things, yāknow⦠fundamental research, who needs that, etc. Budgets are cut, every word of his writings gets controlled to see if isnāt āwokeā ā¦
I regularly read what people from the US are writing in here, but still, hearing that direct testimony made me realize even more acutely how serious the situation is. When people start to be afraid of simply doing their jobā¦
I know itās easy to say that from far away, but I wouldnāt like to be in his shoes, nor in yours btw. If I was, Iād definitely consider migrating. With hindsight, and looking at the developments since, @ubermick probably did the right thing when he moved back to Ireland a few years ago.
I genuinely can understand people reading what I write in here and glazing over because Iāve been on about this for nearly 10 years now across both boards and the world is still standing. But the point is these changes happen slowly one step at a timeā¦one norm violated, one law ignored without repercussion..and there has been a very clear direction of travel that at each step the establishment had shown very little capability of averting or even any interest in it or acceptance it was happening. Here we are now 10 years on from Trump first saying heād refuse to accept any election loss against Hillary because it could only happen if they stole the election, something that was a 5 alarm fire at the time and its so sadly pathetically predictable where we are.
Some subsidies for a certain agency. https://x.com/NewsWire_US/status/1967634567503950210
Sounds like a Russian recruitment poster. But since these people wonāt get 3 weeks of training before being sent to the front, what kind of education do they need, I wonder ? I am fully aware that normal US police have very little education and practically nothing about ethics.
But this offer seems amazing, If I was a Right WInger/Nationalist, this would have tempted me when I was younger. It a lot of fucking money for most people.
We are so inured to blatant corruption that something like this, that would have been an impeachable offense as little as 10 years ago, will just float by with barely a reaction. This is coming on the back of their case against the Dep Fed Gov collapsing last week. This is now a clear systematic approach of not just using the power of the government to go after the presidentās perceived enemies, but purposefully choosing things the president himself has been accused (charged and convicted) of as a way of muddying the water on how people view his own crimes.
I wonder if this is a natural evolutionary end for all systems. People game it.
In particular, systems that is young will likely be vulnerable? In Europe, Asia and Africa, there has been 1000s of years of back and forth in terms of wars, borders, governance modalities and the evolution of the local populousā expectations of their interphase with governance. In America, the local population was removed and the first form of government has overwhelmingly dominated it and the world, eventually.
I wonder if the US will split or convulse into a second ageā¦
