This is extremely good news and must be viewed in the context of the US luring Erdogan with F-35 and Patriots if he winds down buying Russian cheap gas.

(Addendum, as it’s a relevant fact: Bulgaria will end Russian gas transit contracts on Jan 1, 2026, and fully exit the Russian gas market by 2028 - PM Rosen Zhelyazkov )
I wonder what the rationale is, regarding seperating husband, wife and children. I don’t understand it, that is for sure. But there probably is one, even if it is just cynical and for “deterrence reasons”. But since it will deter nothing, it seems just mindless cruelty to me.
I see. So with this intelligent president and this amazing vice, no one needs to worry if the US enters into a military conflict in the Middle East, unlike with the previous particularly dumb ones. https://x.com/highbrow_nobrow/status/1971263815711858930
People remember “kids in cages” from the first term, but that wasnt really the controversy. The controversy was the child separation policy. Those kids were in detention, in the cages, because their parents had been deported separately from their kids. Furthermore it was done in such a purposefully haphazard manner that who the kids were was not properly documented making it near impossible to reunite them with any family even those legally in the US. This is where the term "The cruelty is the point" came from. It was a policy of state sanctioned terrorism against parents. They were essentially parent napping people to send the message that “if you come we will make it so you may never again even know where your child is” in the hope that it provided enough of a disincentive for trying to come.
There are ways to achieve the aims they claim they want far more effectively than their policy achieves, and does so with a fraction of the harm. But for the people involved with ICE, the sadism is part of the attraction, and has been from the start.
(I previously posted the context to this the day after Kirk was shot, in the "Interesting Finds on the Internet thread).
Since unlike, Kelly, I didn’t really regard it as news but more of a curiosity and ill-timed article.
Funny thing is I remember getting into a big fight with one of my friends about it at the time. She is someone who got asylum in the US after arriving as a young child from communist Czech. Her dad got the opportunity to go to Vienna on a work trip and managed to defect while he was there, but it took 3 or 4 years to strike a deal with get his wife and 2 kids over. In talking to her about the child separation policy she backed it, blaming the parent for putting their kids at risk saying “look what my mum endured…a good parent would never risk something that separated them from their kids.” I was stunned by the callousness of it but she herself was a literal refugee and to a degree you have to give room for people to have different perspectives on emotive issues based on their own life experiences.
But some time later I asked her mum about it the next time I saw her and she cold as ice said “If it guaranteed Katka escaped to the US, I would have died on day 1 to make that happen.” My friend’s position was based on what she imagined her mum’s perspective of their experience was, but her mum’s actual experience was 180 degrees on the other side of it.
It’s no wonder since some of it is beyond bonkers, but let me try:
Here is context: Some magazine called Jezebel, probably wicca related, wrote an article that was some what ill timed considering the assassination, where they cursed Charlie Kirk, since he was vile and all of that.

Then the performative Right Wing in the US, grabs this (naturally), and now Meghan kelly, a well known US journalist with some pull, rants in the post above in this thread.
Then later, something about the US Immigration Police and their handling of deportees was posted above with some commentary.
@Limiescouse then shares a lovely and very human anecdote regarding someone he knows who is very hard nosed regarding immigration but was herself a refugee, originally from the Warzawa Pact Czechoslovakia; in response and ellaboration of the ICE post, to show case how far a refugee mother or father would go to place their own child in safety. I.e., she would sacrifice herself without a doubt (and all of this was a bit different from what her daughter said and thought and so on). I thought it was a lovely post, because sometimes people forget the psychological and human factor. The refugees in question, were able to jump off in Wien and then escape to the US.
There was absolutely good context and none of it was OOT.
Err, we could see it coming, and likely the calling of the boss together is wholesale sackings and replace them with yes men…from anywhere, look at the current crop.like Hegsbeth.
Huh? We’re in an alternate universe, where up is down, blue is orange, love is hate, truth is lies and beauty is truth. What have I done to upset you in that context?
Come on, you are not stupid. You are an intelligent man. I don’t have time for this or any interest arguing with you over bullshit. Please don’t insult my intelligence, I don’t insult yours by responding with unrelated memes.
It’s possible I misunderstood you completely. I chose to take you at face value when you said you didn’t understand above and took 5 minutes of my life writing you, explaining the context to help you. Then your response made it seem to me as if you were mocking the posts for being irrelevant (you often complain about OOT), since you responded with unsourced memes.
But it’s possible I misunderstood intent completely. If I did, I apologice. Smallest cup of tea anyway. There is nothing wrong with posting memes of obviously , even though it’s not my cup of tea. It’s just that I presumed you did so because you thought the posts above were stupid; thereby responing with “stupid” to make your point. I think I may have got you wrong in retrospect, so I apologice if so.
It doesn’t matter if I didn’t get you wrong either, since it’s not as if’s a big deal in any case. We are not even disagreeing after all, and particularly not about anything important. Let’s go on. Doesn’t matter.
