Drill Baby Drill...the US Politics Thread (Part 3)

Which of course is not really so much a circumvention as just brazen non-compliance with statute. But it doesnt matter because the Clinton outrage was never really about information security as evidenced by the fact that even in his first term loads of his inner circle, those who had been ardent Bengazhi truthers, were using personal accounts to do their government work

I thought special nominations were made before 24 of February. After that any nominations are surely for next year’s Nobel peace laureate.
Considering the nomination deadlines he’s not even been nominated!

This is a wild comment for a party who have made complaints about healthcare a core issue in the Trump era and yet never presented anything close to a plan that didnt simply involving cutting access to large segments of the population.

Hell, they arguably have not aired anything approaching a plan that did anything else since the Bush era

The cost of health care is a joke in this country (America). I spend about $15,000 a year for my policy, which covers our family of four.

Every time someone goes to the doctor, you spend more. Every time someone gets a prescription, you spend more. If someone needs to go to the hospital, you spend a lot more. All of these additional out of pocket expenses are capped at $16k in my policy, and my family hit that a little while ago.

Which is to say we have spent over $30k on health care this year

The current shutdown is for various reasons, but one big reason is the Republicans want to take away tax subsidies within the Affordable Care Act. I buy my health insurance through the marketplace, and if nothing changes, the costs are projected to significantly increase again.

America needs a universal health care system as a matter of urgency. People here are already conditioned to paying a fortune for health care. Everyone could pay half the current cost during their working years and still fund a world class system, free at the point of use for all, from cradle to grave.

The question that must be answered, philosophically, is who is the current system for?

If it exists primarily for the benefit of the people who receive medical care, it must be ripped up and replaced. If it exists for the benefit of those who work in and around the industry, the shareholders, legal profession and big pharma, with the goal to enrich as many as possible, then the system seems fit for purpose.

Am I crazy, but didn’t Trump say just before being elected the first time that his amazing plan was a week away?

Much more chilling than it may originally appear. Get out while you can Americans…

I think some of what Stanghelle says, is a bit too much, but yes.

That would be along with the other plan to sort the Ukraine issue in one day!

Not a surprise. Makes the decision to slow motion Trumps many transgressions in court or not even bring them to court after he lost the previous election all the more egregious. A complete lack of decisive action against the orange stain got us here.

Fuck knows why the dither. Trump has no such problem.

This is hilarious , the original chainsaw massacre-ist Javier Milei of Argentina , now getting bailed out by Trump after tanking the economy. Mainly ,it’s suspected , to protect Scott Bessent’s investor pals , and it also comes hot on the heels of Trump’s bailout to US soya bean farmers , whose market loss is now being taken up by … Argentina.

Wow. That caller thinking that reducing costs at the back end of the whole process is how you solve America’s health care issues?

Great news that Trump couldn’t put his dirty paws on the Nobel peace price. It’s a discredited price anyway, but still. I wonder if Norway will pay the price for letting the committee doing its job without applying political pressure, but it’s too soon to know.

I just hope he doesn’t get it next year instead (or any year for that matter)…

He couldn’t have won it as he wasn’t nominated except possibly in a parallel universe. However the nominations he received this year will be for next year’s noble prize.
This has become a RW propaganda and misinformation push. It just indicates how much these obscene people have taken over the media. It’s very frightening!
