The DoJ didn’t dither. In fact there is a wealth of reporting of the moves Garland took from day 1. These were incredibly delicate and complicated cases involving conspiracy and obstruction, the investigation of which was made even more challenging by the protection politicians have from not having to cooperate with investigations and the complicity of a substantial portion of the FBI rank and file (Rudy’s people). This was bad enough that at at times Garland had to go around the FBI and utilize the fucking postal service’s law enforcement arm to get stuff done. Ultimately he, and then Jack Smith, put together cases that were prevented from going to trial only because of craven ideologues on the court who ultimately decided there was no way under any circumstances was he going to have to face these charges into a trial. Even people who have legitimate differences of opinion over Garland’s bottom up strategy need to grapple with that realty that would not have changed with a different theory of the case being pursued.
Trump has the benefit of not having to care about putting together winning cases. He is using the Federal government’s resources to make life hell for his perceived enemies, potentially driving them into bankruptcy to defend themselves against charges that no matter how absurd will cost a fortune to defend themselves against. If all he gets out of this is making life hell for some high profile enemies, giving himself ammunition in a PR war, and putting others in a position of thinking twice about stepping out against him, he will have won even without convictions.
He probably did a foreskin test and determined that as an uncircumcised man Trump was at less risk for vaccine related damage (that isnt about the vaccine anymore)
Adelita Grijalva. I think she is going to be consequential.
She won a congressional seat on September 23. Mike Johnson has not sworn her in. It’s a disgrace. She won well, and it’s just a procedural formality. It will have to happen soon. But they have been trying to stop it, or take the news in other directions - government shutdown, Gaza ceasefire, Nobel peace prize, invading Portland, invading Chicago.
Why?
Because as soon as she is sworn in, the Democrats will have the votes to force the release of the Epstein files. Even when they do, I doubt very much that the files will be full and open, and we can count on the Republicans to contest every last page, and obfuscate and even destroy evidence.
But Epstein, above all else, is the story that keeps Trump up at night.
It’s coming Donny, and no amount of howling at the moon will stop it.
Let the whole truth come out. Even if there are Democrats involved too. Tech billionaires, politicians, the lot. Let it all come out. Hopefully it will sink Trump and give impetus to some sort of reset. It is sorely needed.
But Adelita Grijalva will be a key step to this happening.
I know “When did Biden become president?” is the most fiendishly difficult question for republicans generally but how is this not 25th amendment territory?
Republicans think government is bad in large part because when they get into power and have to run it they do such a ducking incompetent job.
They are a party of people who thumb their nose at experts and say “that problem you think is complicated is actually easy to fix…oh no Disney made the mermaid brown”
The Deep State including the FBI was working against poor Donald the whole time he was president. Including Republicans and even people appointed by Trump himself. They don’t call it the Deep State for nothing (it’s really fucking deep).
