Also of note, after leaving the US when he dropped out of his PhD program he came back to the US in 2017 through a special immigrant visa program called the diversity lottery. The purpose of this is to allow highly qualified people to come here from countries with current low levels of immigration. Due to this shooting Noem has already stated she is going to end the program (which she cannot legally do as it was created by an act of congress), but amusingly this is the very pathway and the very people Trump has been claiming our immigration should be more based more on.

They have suspended the green card lottery calling it “disastrous”
So the ONE anomaly caused them to make this decision as opposed to the THOUSANDS of US born white male mass shooters (more than one victim).

The thing to understand about identity politics is that white people, especially white men, dont have an identity. They just are. It is the default. Only deviations from this norm are identities. Yes there was a very concerted effort to make sure white guys get viewed as lone wolves rather than the product of some interconnected ideological movement, but it only works with people if this core understanding of what identity means is in place

There are qualification standards to meet so isnt too far away in concept to what the Aussie system looks like. But winning the lottery only qualifies you to apply. You still have to pass all the additional security checks that every other application is subject to.

New piece in the NYT going right at the idea that Trump and Epstein were just acquaintances from frequenting the same South Florida socialite scene. The piece describes them as close enough that people understood them to be each other’s best friend. Some excerpts..
There is another section that describes how Trump would call Epstein to regale him of his recent sexual exploits and Epstein would purposefully put the call on speaker phone to make sure his secretary heard the details.
