I wonder how much of this is the blow back from the “edit-gate” and how much it is a sign of the times - in that there everything needs a disclaimer. It links to the themes that many have highlighted, namely the blurring between news and opinion.

I think that has applied to everything in the Epstein case. Many of the names were potential extortion targets and are largely blameless.

This CBS thing just keeps getting worse. Bari’s stated concerns with the piece is full of holes, contradictions, and over credulous ideas about the admin’s justifications that are rejected by their own arguments they’ve been willing to make in court. The piece went through all the formal approval process (editorial and legal) without any issue only for Bari to personally flag her concerns way too late. In an all hands meeting yesterday one of 60 Minutes’ most senior presenters called her out for it saying that if she wants to have this level of influence in the decision making she needs to be more involved in the process, not missing the various editorial meetings that exists precisely to raise these sorts of concerns. He is reported to have told her that the role she seemingly wants to play is not consistent with the only part time presence she is seemingly willing to have. But best of all, this process of holding the piece was so slap dash that their Canadian affiliate broadcast the piece anyway.

He actually said he expects some to be built over the next two and a half years. Somewhere in the Pentagon, the real deep state is keeping him at bay as best they can. It is going to be a two year project of glorified renders and conceptual design. If they actually lay down a hull it will be a multi-billion dollar disaster. It is taking the USN almost a decade to design and build a small DD these days, the last two such projects have been a disaster. That render even looks like one of the LCVs.
There isn’t even space in any of the yards for a ship that size over the next 5 years or so, they don’t have enough capacity to gain back time on their rather delayed CV refit program and the yards are completely booked out. There might be civilian yards somewhere in the US with the size needed, but getting them to USN standards for technology and security would be a multibillion dollar project in its own right. Nuclear fuel is a major complexity.

Beyond all the obvious rottenness of how corrupt everything in this administration, I dont think enough attention is paid to how absurdly inept they are. Should have waited a bit longer when there are more files being released. This hack alerted them to be a bit less incompetent.
Then again, the base could always claim that the unredacted versions are fake.
I don’t think they’ve got any more time to play with tbh. The whole caboodle is already lawfully overdue and it looks like it’s all being dropped now asap.
Lots of people worked on the files. My hope is that one of them will be a brave whistle-blower and release the unredacted files (unredacted apart from protecting the identity of the victims, which is what we were supposed to get).
Bill Clinton is also throwing the gauntlet down. Let’s release it all. I’ve got nothing to hide. Let’s go Donald. You too.

Hopefully there is more and more of this until we get to the point where the truth cannot be covered up.
Trump. Clinton. Prince Andrew. Richard Branson. Whoever is involved - and there will be many more - I hope it all comes out.
For lots of reasons I want this to sink Trump, we all do, but everyone who was involved also needs to face justice,

I understand we have a wrong un here AWM…but the USA and UK have all been gunning for him…and he seems to be the main target…but other names have appeared in the ‘released papers’…so why aren’t the gunning for Branson ,Clinton, and especially Trump in the same way…they are not above the law…
they are all culpable and need to be held to count.
But there is an overwhelming clear and present danger at the moment that needs to be dealt with. And that’s neither Clinton nor Branson.
