Who knows how much damage he will cause - there has already been loads - in order to try to move the focus away from his alleged thing for teenage girls?

This is VERY weird. Julieās reporting on Epstein started a bout a year before his 2019 arrest and was the trigger that elevated Epstein into peopleās general consciousness. Prior to that the overwhelming majority of the public would have had no idea who he was. Most of her reporting on the issue was not on Epstein himself, but on anomalies, even illegalities, of the sweetheart he had received a decade earlier for his initial conviction, something she made a national story by tying it to the Trump admin, through Alex Azar, a man who had been appointed to head the department that would be responsible for human trafficking.
It now turns out the DoJ was monitoring her travel during that period and her flight records are part of the new release of files.

What is fascinating from Julieās retelling of it was she knew of Epstein really only because of the South Florida connection. She knew there was some controversy about how light a sentence he got on his original conviction and so thought there was likely a compelling public interest interest story on what the victims thought of of Azar being nominated to a cabinet position in a position responsible for human trafficking. It wasnt until she had such trouble tracking them down that she realized it was really the mother of public corruption cases. By the time he was arrested again the following year she had turned it into a national story with deep roots into the Trump admin
