Over 100 hostages were released within about a month of them being taken in 2023. It’s an absurd metric in the first place, but even if you count all the January 2025 releases to Trump’s tally even though the deal was struck on Biden’s watch and from a deal put together by his people, far more hostages were released under Biden than Trump got out.

It is really quite frightening that these people exist. The pub I used to go to watch footy in in the South of England was pretty sympathetic to these views and the only thing that gave me a crumb of comfort was that they are in there drinking 6-8 pints a night, 4-5 days of the week, and so, quite frankly, they were spouting their nonsense to death.

The House Judiciary Committee have released the transcripts of Jack Smith’s behind closed doors hearing. Not much to really learn from them for anyone who followed, but I think the take home was Smith gave a very clear “yes” when asked if he thought Trump was guilty of illegally trying to stay in power and said there is no comparison to any other event in our history.

I think America’s system of government, with its three branches operating to keep each other in check, is wholly failing.
I’m no constitutional expert, but I think the thing was designed for gentlemen, who had the public good in mind. Then it’s a matter of debating policy, and settling on what that good might be. Usual politics.
Trump is trampling all over it. The system is not light enough on its feet, or nearly responsive enough, to keep up with the quantity of wrongdoing he is unleashing.
