Both @Flobs and @Bekloppt were very clear in their explanations and I don’t see how any of that could constitute hypocrisy, in any way.

The lying and disconnect from reality is still astonishing after all these years. It’s so far past the normal “all politicians lie” idea, it is just a complete disconnect from reality. He attacks the Somali community and immigration in general because they are in his telling “importing a culture of fraud that we cannot afford”, yet he has pardoned a large collection of fraudsters who have bilked the US people. His administration is historically corrupt. He is making up entire policy directions from whole cloth and using it to mask how corrupt he is. But yet that sort of fabulation now feels par for the course.
What didnt though was the laughter Trump’s jovial comment about no one feeling safe fishing near Colombia anymore. That is sick beyond comprehension. The GOP is like some sort of Dorian Gray character, completely rotted out from the inside as a result of doing what was necessary to hang on to Trump coat tails.

This story about Sage Blair the kid who the school allegedly tried to transition without parental consent is a bizarre and seemingly really sad one. It’s really unclear what exactly has happened in that family, but it should be abundantly clear that the story Trump is telling is not remotely accurate and that its a gross exploitation of a clearly traumatized kid who doesn’t want to put in that position.
What we know is that the school was made aware of issues she was having and after a counsellor spoke to her it was agreed she could go by any name she wanted to and use he/him pronouns if that was preferred. I have seen mixed reports on whether they granted access to the boys toilets, but it seems likely they would have. The school was under no obligation to tell the parents of this and, seemingly in agreement with Sage, chose not to. Eventually though the parents found out, there was a big blow up at home and Sage ran away from home. She landed in real trouble after that and ultimately was found by the authorities and put into foster care.
It is not clear what happened between then and now, but she is now back and home and seemingly back to using her name and gender assigned at birth. Its clear there has been a really traumatic breakdown within the family and the parents are taking it out on the school, both suing the school and the counselor personally, and using that to back new legislation being pushed by the Virginia GOP in Sage’s name that would make what the school did illegal, a demonstration that the school acted according to the accepted rules as they stand.
But the big give away of what a sick show this is the bait and switch of what they actually mean when they talk about transition given how limited what actually happened at school was. This is being used to argue against medical transitioning of minors, yet that was never an element of Sage’s case.
