Drill Baby Drill...the US Politics Thread (Part 3)

It was an incredible twist on what was written, even I was lost over your interpretation even after your explanation.

I don’t think out of order, ‘gobsmacked’, incredulous … a WTF moment.

And there you go. Apologies for the drama. Not aplogies for my fucking ludicrous comment. Not apologies for suggesting flobs was being racist. Apologies for all the silly fuss and nonsense that followed it.

It’s our fault, everyone.

Give it a few days and itll be something else to feign anger over…

We get it he wants reform, and despite not actually caring anymore about whats happening to the country, he is absolutely entitled to his opinion…but it does get tiresome reading the same old shit cycle …

Says something, pulls mascot on what he replies…days and days of same stuff as previous
Issues…seriously wish lynch would just stop going around in circles and have a genuine discussion and expand on it at times , rather than going through the same dance ( mainly with mascot, who always says he wont engage anymore …but always gets drawn back to it🤣)

There is a powerful constituency in the US who have long been salivating over the possibility of war with Iran and while Trump’s rise was based on attacking these people, they are now the core of what is left of his support.

The totally independent CBS News not at all influenced by a Trump backed politicized new owner and his hand picked out of her depth toady, give Trump a “true” fact checking assessment on his murder rate claim and do so by checking a completely different statement than the one he made

The Statement was about decline. CBS have verified this statement using absolute numbers. The problem is the majority of that decline came before Trump returned to office

Well this is incredibly concerning…if they dont get the answer they want they are going to change the people responsible for giving them an answer until they find people who say “war with Iran sounds great, Sir.”

Yes and I honestly do not think it is a fair assessment (Carlson is never fair) to claim that only the the Israelis wants this. The principal movers are in the US admin and their US support carries a greater weight than Israel. While Israel has lobbied openly, this is not their “plan” and only partly their idea.

US was never going to accept anything more than 5% enriched uranium, which was always a very harsh demand that Iran would possibly not yield to, but this is more so:

So we are moving into “Impending” territory.

New Israeli leak (let’s ignore the “no choice” bit and focus on the possible indicator of interesting information)

Hezbollah has previously stated that they will stay out of a limited war.

It is difficult to untangle with these people (evangelicals and christian nationalists) where the line is between reflexively doing Israel’s bidding vs believing the US’ interests are best advanced by enabling Israel to do what it wants. So yeah while its a difficult line to draw it does exist.

A lot of people in the US (and elsewhere) wants to see the end of the Islamic Republic , certainly as a geopolitical nuclear threshold threat with a ballistic missile arsenal. Some of those people are in the Pro Israel Hallelujah crowd, but a lot would not be. I doubt Rubio and the old hawks are for instance.

I mean, if you are fairly ruthless and are not afraid of the consequences (power vacuum in Iran, civilian cas, potential of closure of straitz of Hormuz and much more) then this is the best time since I was born to remove The Islamic Republic from the Chess Board. The potential Long Term benefits of doing so are obvious and vast, but of course, the potential short term, medium and long term negative consequences can be catastrophical (but principally for Iranians).

Seeing the people out on the streets in Iran, in their many thousands, protesting for a better and more free country, was inspiring. It was heartbreaking to see tens of thousands of them killed. Trump did not protect them as he said he would.

The Ayatollah and the repressive clamp down on the people needs to be defeated. Sadly I do not have too much hope that America will leave the place any better, if and likely soon, when, it gets involved.

America wants to bomb and take out the nuclear facilities. Iran, presumably, wants to keep that possibility in play, not least as a deterrent for enemies in the region.

To my mind it all depends how far Iran wants to go if war breaks out with America and Israel. They will get bombed and will be beaten down quickly. It will have the appearance of a decisive victory, but I think Iran will still have capability to strike back. At that point it will be weighing whether or not doing so runs the risk of putting the state itself in danger of existing.

I fully expect the bright, hopeful, resourceful, educated young people of Iran - the ones to whom the future belongs, to come out worse off from all of this. Consequently my heart is troubled by the whole thing.

Ideally a fairer America concentrates the mission on removing the Ayatollah and fanning the flames of democracy in Iran, so the people have the right of choosing their own future. A tighter mission like that, with a clear exit strategy that empowers the people of Iran, would be worthy.

I fear what we are about to witness will not be very well thought out.

Oh, and it will also serve to bump the Epstein news off the front pages for a cycle, which is a clear motivator for Trump.

I think what he is saying is that the US general population are against it.
