Yes, Russia wouldn’t take any risk. Iran knew that, and managed their expectations accordingly. But maybe Iran are a bit disappointed with China. But perhaps China feels they did enough by buying the Iranian oil on discount.
US going to war with Iran and the possible fallout of that is not on topic ? It is not US constructed politics you mean ? If so, I beg to differ.
But some of it is off topic of course, but that happens naturally when you communicate and speak about one topic and you get a response that takes you into something related but not really on original topic. It’s a weave though, and it is linked. You cannot stop such conversations, that would be incredibly stifling and unproductive to discourse. One must allow conversations to flow naturally and end naturally (or what else is the point with a forum other than saying “yeah, Liverpool scored!”)
They end fairly soon anyway when people stop replying on the bits that takes the convo off topic
Of course US foreign policy is a part of US politics, but Iran - Russia relations is stretching the point.
There are opposition politicians being kidnapped by government thugs on the streets of the US.
Surely you understand that responding in an existing conversation, and moving that single response to an entirely different thead, thus breaking the weave; is incredibly unproductive if you are having an actual conversation ? Because we did in fact have a conversation.
Or at least we did have, before you set out to kill it (not very appreciated tbh).
Finito. New conversation tangent (or just news).
@peterroberts for new points, let us go to the thread he mentioned.

Meanwhile, Netanyahu is getting a lot of flowers in israel as experts there commend him for his personal touch regarding Trump. Because it was indeed Netanyahu who, with words alone, convinced Trump that Iran is actually going for the bomb and have made that final decision.

Trump and Netanyahu right now in a phone call. The timing is suspicious and portents coordination.

I mean, this ought to be glaringly fucking obvious for everyone, and the Israelis have also repeatedly stated this in their own media. But in case someone missed it or are just very uninformed, i am using a tea spoon and a quote by a strategy professor:

Unfortunately CNN reports that she is conscious and able to speak to her team.
I know, I am a herald of bad news, it is so indeed.
Alex Padilla just got added to the FBI’s most wanted list
Trump has been all over the place on war and use of the military. That and the general dumbness of the movement has allowed there to be big divisions within the movement on this issue, all of which believe Trump is with them but is being manipulated by RINOs
The non-white working class are those who have shifted most against the Democrats

Hopefully with ICE picking on many from their group, non-white, non-college educated people will start to see that the Republicans are no friend of theirs.
Excellent podcast with Sarah McBride, the first trans member of the House.
The first part is her being critical of the progressive movement, who she says have become absolutist and maximalist on trans rights. She says progressives have become intolerant and authoritarian, canceling people if they don’t subscribe to all of their views. This is pushing people away from the movement, making progressives less appealing on all their views. She says trans issues are nuanced, with critics having legitimate concerns. But the maximalist approach of the progressives refuses to address literal concerns of critics, ie boys in girl’s sports, trans-pretending male rapists in women’s prisons. She then says that progressives have become extremely illiberal, censoring and attacking anyone who deviates from their orthodoxy. Yeah, no kidding. The intolerant progressive shock troops are doing damage to their cause.
The second part is her own struggle. You cannot help but feel empathetic towards her. As far as I’m concerned, she’s a woman, and she should be allowed into the women’s bathroom. She is extremely classy, and articulates a vision of politics that allows for disagreement, which she says progressives do not tolerate. She also says the right is overplaying their hand, which is almost certainly true.
It goes behind a paywall in about a week.
