It’s astonishing how much of a non-story it is that the DNI reported the intelligence community’s assessment that Iran are not close to getting a weapon and Trump has just “well that’s just like your opinion man” about it and is both continuing with plans towards military action (even if he doesnt go ahead, this is bad enough) AND she is still in her position. How is this not a 5 alarm fire?

I sadly agree.
In 2014, I would never have believed this utter sociopolitical collapse of the United States possible, despite the signs being there (tea party, alternative news on the right wing). But that those signs heralded this, I did not believe before Trump was elected and insanity normalised in 2016.
And since then, it has gone steady downhill to the point where one is no longer suprised about anything any more.

And maybe she will. But publicly rejecting your DNIs publicly aired assessment of an intelligence assessment to the point of publicly planning military actions is the sort of thing that should see her out of the door in a second. An administration cannot go on with a DNI that has been so undermined and ignored like that.

I wonder what is going on in the brain of people like Bill Ackman. To be so good at making money and yet understand so little. What he writes is so utterly delusional and naive. Fairy Tales I could have believed when I was 14 years old if an adult (who claimed to be very knowledgeable on the topic) told me them, but by 16 I would have become utterly skepitical of it “being that easy”. I don’t get it. How does these people rise to the top in the US. We don’t have such rich imbeciles in Norway. Our billionaires tends to be very intelligent.

Absolutely agree with you. It is ultra dysfunctional, normally a DNI would have resigned (or been forced to) if the president told the world that he didn’t believe their intelligence.
But these are not normal times, so I confess I don’t react to it too much. I shrug a bit and think “what a circus”. I just doesn’t surprise me anymore. I wish it did though. This story would have been utterly horrifying in 2014, even in 2017, in Trump’s first term. But it has moved far beyond this already.
I think the reason she is still there, is to keep MAGA intact for domestic political reasons (I also think that was why she was picked in the first place, because her positions were so popular with the MAGA base.)
Watch Mountainhead. Yes it’s a comedy not a documentary, but it is so on the nose.

Maybe I am the fool for still being surprised, but the piece I cannot understand is the lack of hair on fire response from the press. I can understand a Trump admin acting like a bunch of a fucking morons who dont do what is expected of them because they dont know anything. But every member of the press should be hounding everyone in the administration and everyone on capital hill about trump pushing for war in direct contradiction of his intelligence assessment. Yet they treat it as a funny little soap opera like story of Trump dissing her, rather than the story of it being a war of choice taken up on grounds that are fabricated

It is mostly just the conservative press that is actually writing critical articles about it, I too note (meaning the Never Trump media click).Mainstream media seems to just take it in stride as a normal day in the circus, but of course, they really shouldn’t as you note.
