I’m really not one to promote conspiracy theories but when the President has a hissy fit about his vanity ballroom citing security concerns, then on cue there is ‘assination attempt’ at an event, and with minutes an army of MAGA shills are tweeting ‘told you so’, you really have to wonder.
Well, it wasn’t an assassination attempt, he never got that far. It was a security incident. These happen all the time. I’m still curious as to why so many of the senior Whitehouse figures were there, because he apparently never attends this event.
Saw this earlier. I think he’s right, that when Trump is gone, the circus show is over, they will try to convince us that everything is normal again, but in reality it never was, and never will be.
Limie already made the point that a lot of these accounts are on a group chat with the WH. They’re just being fed a line in real time the same way as their representatives would be. Here we are.
Trump had previously skipped it every year of both of his presidencies. The first time he did he became the first sitting president since Regan who only missed it because he was he was still recovering from being shot, an incident that happened at this hotel.
Trump had pointedly refused in the past because of his negative relationship with the WHCA and the press in general, and so maybe you can claim that this his decision this year was a reflection of his sense that he had finally cowed them into compliance. But from the lead it up was clear he had something he had planned that he wanted to use the opportunity to get something off his chest.. Assuming there was actually something, and it wasnt just a way to get attention on a false flag op, no one now knows what it would have been as as all they are doing now is talking about the need for the Ballroom.
The Ballroom incidentally is way too small for this event, which is not a state/white house owned event that the ballroom was identified as being needed for. This is a private event owned by the members of the press in the White House pool at which the president is merely a guest of honor
Also lets keep the need for premium security of this guy in context of him fucking off several times a year to sit ring side at UFC events. There was far more security at this even that plenty of other things he willingly exposes himself to.
Now that more information has come to light, I must admit to being hasty in thinking it was a security lapse. In fact the shooter was intercepted far from his target. Actually it seems that Trump and his mates weren’t in any real danger and it’s not surprising that they were relaxed about it all.
The Southern Poverty Law Center was founded in the 70s as an anti-racist legal group that made its name by fighting and essentially bringing down the Klan. It expanded its focus into a broader civil rights group and went on to become the gold standard for categorizing hate groups and has long been a key partner with the FBI in cases made against these groups. Because of the political valence of what they focus on, especially the more culture war stuff became the focus of our domestic politics, the right has become increasing hostile to them treating them as nothing more than a partisan anti-conservative group, which is basically just the meme
Sometime last year Kash officially cut FBI ties with them (because of the meme), and last week announced a criminal case against them for allegedly defrauding donors over a program that paid informants to get info on the groups they monitor. The SPLC has never denied these programs and pretty much every donor knows the programs exist and expects the money to be used in that way and so people are a reasonably skeptical of the indictment. Anyway, here is Trump now saying that the Unite the Right rally was bad only because the SPLC incited it, despite him having defended it repeatedly over the years https://x.com/RapidResponse47/status/2048582257586176450?s=20
What I don’t get is why the dinner attacker wasn’t noticed before he started running. From what I saw from photos he was without clothes. Surely someone could have noticed a man in a hotel without clothes on.
