Who could have ever predicted that the guy openly promising a gutting of the EPA and openness to enabling anything big polluting corps needed as long as they got him back into office would be bad for the MAHA agenda? Oh, every single person who didnt have their head up their arse?

Indeed. It would be good if every time that fat pricks opens his mouth to insult or threaten anyone, someone would return the exact same insult or threat back to him.

Is that a new brand of ice cream charles ?

Honestly Merz own fault.

Pick your battles, never fight those who are unecessary against a very powerful actor. Only the mighty can afford that, and rigth now the geopolitical situation is precarious (for now). And this was completely provoked for no good political reason at all. We in Europe have to stand up the US, fight it politically when we must. But it carries a cost. Off-hand comments to German school children which humiliates the most thin skinned mad emperor in modern history, is a strange event to expend political capital on.

Anyway, I came to post about the passport thing. It is…remarkable, as you note. Absolutely bat shit crazy.

Just want to say well said King Charles, in the two clips above I watched. Thank you for posting. He is speaking truth to power (as a powerful, privileged man of course) but he is being a proper friend to America and not just rolling over and kissing Trump’s arse, like everyone else does.

I’m not a Royalist, and would be happy enough if it was all disbanded and replaced with something more suitable for the modern age. Still, given the situation we have, and not the one I would prefer we have, this is an example of the Royal Family exerting soft power on behalf of the UK and also the sensible people of the world, who look at America and shake their heads, incredulously.

Yeah, King Charles was amazing.

I would not use the amazing word lightly. Everything from the handshake, refusing to be dominated, to his speech, to exploiting the fact that Trump likes him. Perfect.

This is what royalty is supposed to do, and in some cases, politicians cannot.

As for Merz, yes, that was just stupid. We should expect better. He’s right, but he does not enjoy the luxury of saying what he thinks, unguarded. It just causes issues. Sometimes of course you have to take a principled stance. Mark Carney is about the best example of how to do that.

But taking a stand at the wrong time, in the wrong place and in the wrong way, is just an unnecessary own goal. Because Trump’s attention span is so short, and Iran and Epstein are the two biggest issues he faces right now, hopefully Merz’s comments won’t be as consequential as they easily could be.

I actually googled it because at first I really didn’t believe it was true.

It’s getting crazier every day.

Merz is simply a terrible person. There’s really not much more to say about it.

Did king Charles make any mention of his own son serving in Afghanistan on behalf on NATO?

Might have hit a nerve on draft dodging Donald

He actually did make a few surprisingly barbed quips, for example referring to the War of 1812 in reference to the demolition of the White House East Wing. It appeals to American history rather than the current regime. I think he quoted Teddy Roosevelt as well.

I think the King does come across very well. His visit to Germany in 2023 was regarded as being very positive diplomatically. Obviously, there will be an army of advisors pouring over every word of his speeches, but his delivery is usually spot on.

A golden Trump bell – surely a nice spot can be found for it among all the other golden stuff. A very fitting gift; Trump was visibly delighted.

How long before Putin’s on the phone donald to try and influence him?

This is kind of thing that dazzles him…

It’s like a child or a dog, as for Merz his comments on Ukraine were far worse.
