I remember Souness as being much more comfortable with the shorter passing game than Stevie was.

I think it was telling that there was something missing in midfield when Souness left. Iâm not sure his temper was that much of an issue. He had a reputation as a hard man, and he was certainly aggressive, but it was controlled when he played with us. His red cards were when he was playing for Rangers, and his physicality had declined.

I think so too. Not that Gerrard didnât have those deft short passes but his passing selection always was slanted towards now now now and making something happen quickly
He was never the conducting type like xavi, Scholes or pirlo. Even if he could pass like them from a technical perspective.

Souness in all honesty was miles better than GerrardâŚSouness would make Gerrard look like a Jay Spearing player 
Both great players , but sadly different generations etc one had a great team around them in all positionsâŚand erm the other had jamie carragher

Iâll put it out there but bar that 20 minutes against Argentina I do think he did well did Tuchel. There are only usually 3-4 teams at a Tournament so the âhe didnât beat the top teamsâ is always a bit of a fallacy he didnât have to beat Brazil because Norway did and they were far the better side.
Germany âa top teamâ where shit so went out. Remember 8 years ago you had semis with France, Belgium, Croatia and England.

The whole top teams idea is often nonsense based on historical reputation not current level.
Brazil and Germany are clearly no longer top teams stacked with very good players. Beating them wouldnt equate to beating Spain or France in a proper game.
Fans and the media love to do it though. Like when we beat Croatia it was hailed because Croatia used to be good, despite their best player being about 40 years old currently.

I would say purely based on current form Norway is more of a top team and they did beat Brazil right and proper.
I think the Japanese could have definitely beaten Brazil, they just didnât believe they could. Just like they could have beaten Holland with more self-belief.

They only really have Haaland and Odegaard as established players, though a few decent wingers. Holland are another one. Historically a top side but now its debatable.

I said closer to a top team. You canât become a top team in one tournament. You build that reputation over multiple tournaments.
