Euro 2020 Archive Thread

The Sportswashing going on in Hungary is brilliant and now UEFA have again come up with another statement they can be really proud of.

If it wasn’t for Brazil taking over as world leaders in deaths from Covid they would be going pretty hard on who is the worst organiser of a major football tournament this summer.

There’s something wholly unsatisfactory about England for example qualifying without kicking a ball and knowing that the result of the last game is almost inconsequential

Cologne and and Frankfurt stadiums will do the illumination. Not the same thing obviously though. Still kinda cool.

Team wise i find it totally unfair that quite a few of the bigger national teams get home advantage,as for the fans, having to travel all over europe to support your country isn’t cheap either, with covid involved aswell it’s almost impossble to get to every game, which gives home advantage an even bigger edge.

Maybe i’m veiwing this from a Welsh perspective but we’ve been screwed on where our fixtures have been played, especially when we have a 75k seater Principality stadium sat empty and 12 games are being held in the UK.If we beat Denmark in Holland,we have to travel back out to Baku again,WTF is that about.

Thought it was a stupid idea before the pandemic as that is still happening across Europe it is even more so and now the decisions seem to be all money and politically driven as for Hungary well I’ve said my views on that.

As a member of the LGBTQ+ community I can say we noticed it a while back.

There will be rainbows everywhere, not only in some stadiums, in places all over Germany.

It’s going to be a much bigger thing now than if UEFA had just done the right thing. They will not be able to prevent the many pictures that will come from Germany on Wednesday.

Absolutely. But then own goals are sort of the theme of this tournament.

UEFA will position themselves as putting in a Kimmich like wicked ball forcing Hungary into the own goal.

Siri, explain UEFA to me in two articles.

Basically they are saying we aren’t going allow it because the Hungarian government has made LGBTQ+ rights a political issue.

Maybe Ronaldo should have convinced the Portuguese government to say Coca Cola was illegal for a week or two.

Then it would be political and they would have to take action… I think

Or, have coca cola make the request for the rainbow colours?

Oh that would be good… One of the sponsors could easily do this.

Also I think clubs will have a ton load of rainbow laces

Do Coca-Cola do a rainbow themed bottle? If so, the players should take one of those with them and swap it for the one on the dais?

Expecting Coca-Cola to do it themselves seems like it might be a bit optimistic…
