I know it’s somewhat obvious, but still feel the need to say that not all Hungarians are like that. Met some of the smartest, open-minded people there, great (sub)culture etc. Sad to see what’s happened to the country in the last couple of years though (imho).
What I don’t get is that UEFA preach inclusion, diversity, respect for human rights, back anti-discrimination campaigns etc. All of these are inherently political so this is just another example of Uefa standing by principles only when it suits. I hate UEFA (and FIFA) so much.
In U.S. parlance it’s a reprehensible word. You almost can’t say it. I suspect it doesn’t carry quite the pejorative impact in the U.K. I do wince when reading it in a post, and for me it has ruined many an otherwise excellent post.
Americans are prudes about language though - ironically this is what gives swear words their power. Glamorisation of violence and guns is okay but swearing is unacceptable. What a country!
Re ‘cunt’ - I expect feminism will reclaim the word to reposition it as something that is not derogatory.
It’s being reported as a knee injury, but it’s really a muscle/tendon injury in that he tore the hamstring tendon off the bone in the knee and needs it surgically reattached. That is an injury of a player who has almost zero prospects of ever being able to stay fit ever again.
I never use it. Many women have told me that they find it offensive and sexist.
I see that plenty on here do use it, including people who are generally against discrimination.
