You mean, a little quarter final against Germany, going into the penalties?

There’s a documentary on Amazon Prime about how Crystal Palace went from the brink of liquidation to the Premier League about a decade ago.

In it, Kevin Phillips just stands to one side and laughs as his teammates practise penalties before the playoff final; as he rightly says, you just can’t replicate the pressure in training.

Perhaps just to get the PK muscle memories in place?

This is true, but it’s probably a better plan than when David Batty took one having never taken one before in a match.

this is like a golfer saying it’s pointless practicing putting. The more automatic you can make your movement the less effect pressure will have on it.

Imagine telling fans not to boo players before a tournament starts.

Is this the same Luka Modrić who gave an interview praising England on Radio 4 on Saturday morning?

Lighten up! You been on a rampage today! :kissing_heart:

It’s sensationalism and cutting quotes to stir the post before the match tomorrow. Modric later went on to praise the England players. The context of the full interview was about the World Cup. His response about arrogance was specifically the media and a large portion of supporters in England. And he’s not wrong.

The reason England got beat by Croatia is bottle and negativity. The former England had none and the latter they had plenty.
They were bossing the game, then 2nd half they went into their shell. Much of that was Southgate’s doing.

Fair play, that was as good a performance by an England team against a decent side as I can remember seeing in years.

So they through regardless of tomorrow’s result? I think the worst they can do is best 3rd place as two of the third place finishes already only have 3 pts.

They are already through, but winning the group will put them a path to be the home team at Wembley for all Wembley’s KO games (all games except the QFs).

Kind of want them away from Wembley, might help them.

Yes that booing can not be doing their confidence any good, can it?
