we will miss the PowerCube. had lofty hopes for our Swiss connection, and I will say goodbye after a trophy-laden three years.
Hope he has a good spell at Lyon.
I seem to remember he did quite well at Stoke while he was there. Some pretty tasty goals from memory. So I donāt think it was hi not being able to handle the PL as much as finding a team that suited him. Not so many of those around it seems. Easily good enough and cheap enough for managers to bring in as a bargain squad filler
Love Shaq!
All the best power cube!
I couldnāt tell you, I was just pointing out the international game is very different to what your up against in the EPL. Heās also one of Switzerlands better players and is a main outlet for them which he just wasnāt with us. Heāll be nearer that at Lyon.
Excerpt from the clubās communication:
(ā¦) He departs the Reds with winnerās medals in the Premier League, Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup, having scored eight goals in his 63 appearances under Jürgen Klopp. (ā¦)
Add nine assists to the eight goals. Thatās 17 goal contribution in 63 appearances, often from the bench (2ā495 minutes/one goal contribution every 145 minutes, which isnāt bad at all). His only problem was that he was a squad player in a top, top team, and that on top of this, injuries prevented him from playing more often, and more consistently.
But a flop? Thatās way too harsh imo. Then again, weād probably need to define what is a flop. As far as Iām concerned, Iād call flops the likes of Itandje, Diouf, Cheyrou, Downing, Adams, and numerous others who didnāt contribute with anything at all during their stay, or even disrupted squad harmony with their stupidity. Thatās a flop for me.
No disagreement from me on this. He appears to be Switzerlands creative fulcrum (new football term. You heard it here first) and the more nuanced tactical play certainly suits him.
In some ways its a shame to see him go I think.
Already in the Former section.
Yeah, donāt understand where the idea that heās a flop is coming from. Seems to be a lot of revisionism going on about some of our players, perhaps because theyāre not the flavour of the month it seems.
I can assure you thereās no revisionism in my case. Though I see some from others saying that he did well at Stoke. I personally donāt think 15 goals in the 3 years to be that good.
He isnāt a flop.
He was a bit part player in the clubs most successful period for 30 years.
Many Liverpool Legends would swap with him
Iāll remember that cross. Like Origi, possibly not the most consistent but absolutely legendary moments.
Good luck power cube, have a brilliant onward journey.
Best of luck to him. A player Iāve always enjoyed watching, and I did for Liverpool as well. Nice to have had him at the club.
Always thought he was too fat. Still think he was too fat. Useful whilst he was here, doesnāt leave a massive whole though.
He got relegated at Stoke - which apparently activated the clause that let us buy him. So he played well at times, but not enough to keep the up.
He once tore Utd a new arse.
I Big Shorts.
Good player in the wrong team.
He is a bit of a luxury player. Does very little for 90 minutes then he will play a world class pass to unlock the opposition
I really do like him as a player and in the right environment/set up he could thrive. His performances for Switzerland highlight this.
I wish him well. He worked hard, was a professional and is moving on because he wants to get more match time. I respect that.
