We’ve got a reasonable chance of going far and potentially winning the Europa, we are in the semi finals of the league cup, we have 5 of our squad missing and we are top of the league.
If even one of those wasn’t the case I’d be all for it
It all comes back round to priorities and where you currently find yourself in each competition…right now FA cup is at the bottom. All well and good saying we go full throttle in everything but that becomes more unreasonable over time and by doing so you actually lessen your chances for the bigger trophies.
If this was Jurgens first or second season with us… he would obviously had viewed this game differently to the way he will for this weekend. It is to be remembered, he has become a seasoned campaigner in the demands of the long slog that is a football season.
Whatever side he puts out, whatever priority he affords this match, would be fine by me… who am I to argue. This is the same manager that came within 20mins of achieving the quadruple… evidence alone that he knows what he is doing.
There is contact, yes minimal, but the fact he his sliding, therefore out of control with his foot in the air and studs leading, it is a tackle that endangers the safety of the player. Because of the sliding action he is also using excessive force.
I compare this to Joneses red, Jones was on his feet and the action of contact on the ball caused the studs to contact Bissouma, DCL was studs up up, off his feet and sliding, Clyne was lucky the contact was only minimal.
These studs leading challenges whilst out of control are the ones that they are trying to stop as when mistimed are leg breakers, career enders
I once refereed a game, gave a penalty for a foul on a player but also cautioned him for unsportsmanlike conduct as he dived to make it look worse. Maybe not textbook refereeing but he actually didn’t argue lol
