Starting to feel like I was being too optimistic
I donāt think he can be confirmed. If there was a lot of chatter in the press Iād be worried but itās been quiet which to me suggests itās done.
To me suggests heās keeping his options open for the end of the season when thereāll be a bidding war.
I think if a bidding war was likely we would hear about other clubs coming in for him.
Itās probably just clubs sorting out the contract formalities. Having got everyoneās hopes up in January, the club will want to have evetything nailed down before any further announcements.
Interesting write up by Vickery about the current crop of Brazilian youth and the trend for the best talent to be sent to Europe while younger and less developed than in years past.
I donāt think he have agreed personal terms in Jan if that was the case.
Looks like Fulhams priority is to ensure promotion, I think they are just a win or two away from it right? And we have some kind of gentlemanās agreement not to disclose anything until they are promoted.
It wouldnāt be surprising given how we āpoachā players from other clubs but still end up having a very healthy relationship with them.
And considering Neco is fucking smashing it, and we allowed them to defer the Wilson paymentsā¦ Iād say Fulham must like us a wee bit.
I wonder if the deal wasnāt completed in January because we (and they) were waiting to see if they would be promoted and we could then sign him and send him out on loan there next season, so that he can gain that all-important Premier League experience.
Possible. Neco loan could have been a sweatner in the grand scheme of things. Keep Fabio, we give you Neco on loan, get promoted and lets see where can go from there.
Just a speculation from my end but seems plausible given how we neither screw the player nor the club we are dealing with.
And I forgot about the Harry and Harvey deals. Like I said, maybe we put a package which overall works best for both parties.
As an aside, Wilson scored an absolute stunner on saturday to earn them a point late on
I thought this wasnāt allowed in the same window between PL teams?
No idea. I havenāt looked up the loan rules lately.
And you think that should stop you making definitive statements?
Premier League clubs cannot loan to another Premier League club a player they have acquired in the same transfer window.
So not only could Carvalho not join Fulham if they were promoted, he could not be sent to any Premier League team.
There would, however, be the possibility of a 6-month loan from next January.
But had we been able to buy him in January, and then loan back to Fulham, then he would have been able to be loaned to them (or anyone else) in the PL next season. They fucked up!
I think the deal is done, heāll be our player in the summer.
Way I see it, I think itās quiet is good. Judging by the dates I think the earliest would be the beginning of May to officially announce which is probably the 6th, Fulham finish their season on the 7th if they donāt collapse.
Iām being a bit lazy here as Iāve not seen one minute of Fulham but how has he been playing since the window closed? Still with the same level motivation?
