Yeah. In the context of us having A LOT of players, a deal like this looks more attractive for everyone. Removing all the human side to it, getting this sort of payday for him and something comparable for Endo would fund about 2/3 of the fee for a player identified as being a key cog next year at the loss of two players unlikely to play very much.
I think the best you can say is it another mark for why Liverpool is a good destination these days for a young player. You will be tested while trying to make the first team and if you cannot quite bridge that gap at that stage of your career there will still be a decent move for you at the end of it.
Rarely do kids make it here after being out on loan. We’ve seen more success recently with Elliott, Quansah and Bradley but think the writing was on the wall when Klopp didn’t fancy him.
It’s a shame as you always want to see the young lads do well but we’ve done alright out of deals like this with Brewster, Solanke and Elliott.
Good luck to the lad, seems a good kid in need of regular football.
He’s obviously talented and it’s a shame we’re letting him go in a way, but he’s not strong enough in the challenge and that doesn’t seem to have changed.
Still don’t really know what his best position is either.
His situation reminded me a touch of Ryan Kent - Almost, but not quite - He didn’t possess the ‘X’ factor (whatever that is)
BTW, Ryan Kent heading to Ipswich as we text - £2m
He joined Besiktas on a three-year deal last summer but was sidelined for almost four months at the start of this year following a thigh tear. Meanwhile, Turkish news outlet Haber Ekspres reports that left-winger Ryan Kent will leave Fenerbache ‘in the coming day to sign a contract with Ipswich Town’.
The only moaning has been from Roven Schröder, the Leipzig director, and Rui Jorge, who got his knickers in a twist because Fabio rejected a call-up for the Portuguese U21’s, apparently due to a family issue, and even he went on to say:
“Fabio, it should be noted that, while he was with us, he always behaved exemplary at all levels. What he brought to our game too, his relationship with our staff was impeccable.”
Rosenior’s comments on Fabio during his time at Hull:
"The way that he trains, the way he conducts himself, his humility even in the last 10 days we’ve been together, he does things that I love.
We get off the team coach, he wants to tidy up the team coach. He was in the dressing room yesterday, he’s not part of the squad because he couldn’t be registered, travelled with the team, the team are going out to warm up he’s putting people’s flip flops back in their place.
He sums up the culture of what I want, it’s not just about ability on the pitch it’s about your human quality."
Well judging a player by the badge on their shirt is a terrible idea but…
Canos made a nice career for himself at Brentford and is now a starter at Valencia.
Ibe was incredibly talented but fell out of the game due to mental health issues.
Ryan Kent had a terrific run at Rangers leading them to a Europa League final and getting himself a big payday move to Turkey.
Ejaria was Reading’s best player back in the Championship but has also struggled with mental health issues that recently led him to mutually terminate his contract.
Ki-Jana Hoever was play of the year on loan at Stoke last season and just signed a new 5 year contract with Wolves.
Grujic is a squad player at Porto.
Harry Wilson was terrific for Fulham last season.
Neco Williams has been a bit up and down for Forest but he’s playing regular PL football and has redently been the subject of interest from both West Ham and Newcastle.
Don’t understand the desire to slate our former players or imply they’ve done badly.
