Federico CHIESA: 2024/25

And let’s face it.

He’s the 6th choice forward player we got in on a bargain deal.

It’s a well thought on gamble that can well turn out to be the steal of the decade. If it doesn’t work out , we don’t lose that much.

Can see him increasingly being used as what Gomez was being used in the defensive backline across the #10 and LW/CF/RW positions.

Can fit in everywhere. Has decent pace and good acceleration. Clever footballer on his feet. He would have been unattainable for any club had he stayed fit. So the key is to ensure he stays fit and I think we are doing right by him so far.

Don’t see anything similar to Bobby personally. He’s a winger, can do a job on both sides and the experience of two up top at Juventus makes him an outside option for the striker role.

Most of Chiesa’s strength are Firmino’s weakness and opposite :joy:

I think Chiesa best role right now is second strikers, when we need goal and wanna take risk to play 4 strikers. Right now he is not ready to play in starting line up imo.

I think they are somewhat different. His pace isn’t slow but he’s not that pacey however his acceleration is spot on and Lille struggled with that. He could be a major asset in tight games against low block teams.

Based on the GPS tracking data there absolutely no doubt he has a very fast top end speed. Even after returning from his ACL the drop off was marginal and within the limits of normal variation (i.e. not a real drop off) and make him neck and neck with the top measured players at the club (Dom and Darwin). The question about his pace since the injury has been how often he can use it making it difficult to capture him going to full speed, but at least part of that last year was probably explained by being played more through the middle.

I had to copy it, it’s brilliant, thanks for posting the link

When the ball hits the net
And the reds get ahead

That’s Chiessaaaa

When the kop turns to roars
It means somebody scores

That’s Chiessaaaaa

[Bridge: LFC

First slick little flick,
then a trick and a kick

That’s Chiessaaaa

When a hattrick comes quick
and the score-line gets big

That’s Chiessaaa

[Verse: LFC]

All those skills make you drool
Because this is Liverpool

With Chiessaaa

Let him speak with his feet
Soon we’ll dance in the street

With Chiessaaaaa

Make them suffer defeat
Liverpool in the lead

Chiesa needs to prove why Juventus was wrong in letting him go.

Hope we meet them and Chiesa gets a hatrick

I see he got MOM in last night’s poll. I wonder is that partly to do with us all wanting him to do well and that he finally played 90mins?

Personally found him frustrating to watch. Tried hard but seemed on another wavelength to team mates. Some really silly shots.

He clearly wants to succeed here though so hopefully more to come!

I thought he was really lively and willing, on a day when there wasn’t really much to pick from in terms of performances.

You can see that he isn’t quite there in terms of touch and sharpness, but there is obviously a player there. There is a desperation to do well, and that’s leading him to make some daft decision around shooting and taking players on.

Yeah. Hopefully Slot telling him to chill out and assuring him that there will be plenty of opportunities
