Keep in mind that it was Southampton, but yeah, you could feel that he had more sharpness than before. Positive signs, could be more useful this season than last season. Or better to say, he will bloody have to be!

For all people have been blaming Slot on not having played him more, maybe building back to full fitness is what he needed and may have been the better long time thing to do for Chiesa as well.

Many careers have been ruined by rushing back players or not building back fitness properly.

But we’ll need to wait for the biography to know, most probably.

There comes a point where you cannot get full match fitness and rhythm if you don’t play, but just train. Last season was definitely not good for Chiesa from his own personal view, no two ways about it. There is prudency after an injury, not rushing a player, but this was different. Now, he had more or less a pre-season (with questions where he would be) and we coudn’t replace all of our forwards, so there is more space for him to play. That’s it.

They are looking to add him to the CL squad.

Absolutely brilliant news, it will add a string to Slot’s bow and will lessen the horrid news of Leoni injury a little.

If this guy puts together consistent 8/10 match performances when he stands in for MO during Africa Cup… He is the only player in the squad popular enough, to give every single fan a conundrum about whether he should automatically hand back the starting berth when MO returns…!

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. He had a good game against a Championship side. Let’s see how he does next time out.

Yeah I get your point… but the ‘between the lines’ message of my post, was to suggest that this guy is becoming the most popular player in the squad… Even popular enough to oust MO from his automatic weekly selection, if his performance on the pitch can match his enthusiasm levels, the vote would certainly be split between the fanbase, as to who plays right wing..!

Absolutely the way people go on hes become prime John Barnes.

Since when did ‘popularity’ dictate selection? If he ousts Mo it’s because he’s playing well and Mo is looking less effectual; not because Mo’s had a strop over the coffee machine and run over Arne’s cat.

The hype around him is becoming a bit cultish.

The problem is that everyone will turn on him if he doesn’t play a blinder next time out.

In fairness, not everyone.
I acknowledge the @RER comments above, but there is also a balanced view to consider.
He is an asset to the club.

Good to see he has finally made that squad, unfortunate as to how, though.
The guy is a class act, and a very intelligent player,as with some it took him a while to overcome injuries and the way we play over here, but hopefully that is well behind him now.

Yeah, not everyone. I won’t either. Poetic licence.

Another goal, but some horrible passes also, like didn’t touch the ball in two years.

:joy:

If he gets a start in Turkey midweek, go and show you don’t deserve to be playing in Turkey next season.

He did more in his cameo than our entire front 3 did first half and more importantly actually looked to play with purpose and get others in the game, so close not to score with his first effort on his weaker foot too, gorgeous attempt

On merit, I can’t see how he doesn’t start the next game…nothing more he could’ve done, over to you Arne - time to show a bit of courage.
