FIFA World Cup 2026 - USA/Canada/Mexico (Part 1)

would you trust them not to then have a ‘hydration break’ halfway through those thirds… with the excuse that it would create 15 minute dynamic periods, increasing both tactical AND physical peak performance

urgghhh

Tucked in shirt, no belt? Urgh. And don’t get me started on the lack of ties on these boys, not to mention garters.

The problem is the it’s not supposed to be Handball with tactical time outs to improve tactics and the game. Sure, you can say everyone gets the same chance, but it doesn’t belong in the game . But I absolutely agree with you, it’s a massiv opportunity and can and should obviously be exploited by eveyrone (if someone offers you a game aid and it’s fair for all, you take it). All happening due to FIFAs fielty to Trump and US television (I mean, hydration breaks that lasts several minutes on days that are not even considered that hot for Norwegians, haha).

I am more worried for the future. I think they are trying to sneak-introduce commercial breaks in future championships and maybe even leagues, to make it appeal more for US tv so football can grow and make more money. Money, money, money. It’s what’s it’s about, after all.

They covered all bases.

The most awful set piece play.

And even worse goal from open play.

Uruguay now have to go for it against Spain and they will get eviscerated.

Cape Verde have a real shot at beating Saudi Arabia and qualifying.

I’ve noticed the hydration break is now getting booed at every game but so far haven’t heard any of the coverage mention it.

It’s been mentioned on the German coverage. It’s a bit crap if they don’t explain because it will give the impression that it was something happening on the pitch.

Scotland vs Germany in the R32 at the moment…

The 3rd place thing is a real mess. I’m wondering if they could have a better way of doing this.

Hmm, maybe some sort of qualifying process to weed out the weaker teams and fewer groups where just the top two go through…

Dunno I kind of prefer the “festival of football”.

After all Cape Verde have been brilliant and I thought NZ went for it yesterday. Scotland ironically is the type of play that you expected from an increased tournament.

Most of these records are down to the fact they play more games to be honest, not a lot of them are particulary interesting, I did like Klose having that record as well.
