For me, if the guy is running into the box it should be a penalty.
Football is too obsessed with the technicalities. South Africa had a very good chance of scoring and then end up with a nothing freekick. That isn´t fair and it benefits the guy for cheating. Cheating should never be better than playing fair.

Fine with that as a red actually. Just because the runner isn’t directly pointing at the goal when they’re fouled its still a goal scoring chance.
Mexican defender could have just tried to defend the situation but he took the lazy way and just took the player out.

This is every World Cup. People forget that 90% of the games are garbage because international football is terrible compared to the club game.

okay second red does look like a straight slap so maybe deserved
i change my mind, the third is definitely a red. no attempt at playing the ball whatsoever.
It’s nice that the event is underway and we can start watching the worlds best, analysing football and offering opinions again.
All the USA, FIFA talk was starting to get tedious with too much negativity.
