Didn’t know Rooney was Argentinian.

The Fat Messi.

Looks like the guy at my local kebab shop.

Messi will have a job and a half pulling his shirt back over that fat head :0)

The tattoo artist clearly struggles to draw hands, too.

Best keep your shirt on for that masterpiece mate!

From the social justice department…

Pogba thought Benzema was a bad influence…POGBA!!

(Apologies for the Daily Fail link)

Purely football speaking, great world cup, the best I’ve watched in my following.

Thought Brazil was better.

Shame it was ruined by being in Qatar and having Qatari atmosphere. I think 2006, 1998 and 1994 were all better.

It was a bit like the Euros the games were generally entertaining for international football, if you ignore certain groups.

“Best World Cup ever” as I saw elsewhere is pushing it and is being pushed by certain people with an agenda.

Not speaking about atmosphere, agenda, or anything else. Apart from Qatar, every team showed at least something, all groups were interesting. Football speaking, the biggest factor was probably that was played in the middle of a season. Nothing or not much to do with where it was held.

Agreed. The best group stages and the best final football match ever at international level.

You didn’t watch some groups then

1986 :star_struck::heart_eyes:

Impossible to say given how much youthful exuberance and nostalgia plays a role in how you experience a world cup, but 86 was the first I remember watching, which means 90 was the first I had excitement about the built up for. That is almost universally rubbished as a tournament, but just the way it fit into my life coupled with Nessun Dorma, England’s run, World in Motion, even things like Baggio announcing himself prior to his move to Juve…it all adds up to a tournament I’ll always remember fondly even if everyone thinks the football was shit.

The corollary is no amount of exciting football or positively compelling story lines can negate the stink over the non-footballing parts of this tournament and I’ll always just remember it as something that happened not as something I enjoyed or even something that had merit.

“arguing that citizens of Wales would have wanted him to be there”

They weren’t so keen on him coming back.
