FIFA World Cup: Qatar 2022

Qatar World Cup 2022: Fifa asked to ban Iran from tournament - BBC Sport
Football’s world governing Fifa has been called on to ban Iran from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

A group of Iranian football and sports personalities have sent a formal request to the body asking for it to suspend the Iranian Football Association.

They claim government intervention - by stopping women entering stadia in Iran - contravenes Fifa rules.

“Neutrality from Fifa is not an option,” the group said.

Not letting women in contravenes FIFA rules.
Workers dying on building sites is ok.
Fucking hell, this fucking shambles needs to be abandoned.

Edit: For clarity
If this was a 'normal ’ world event Iran would be rightly sanctioned. But hiw can ultra corrupt FIFA ban them whilst supporting the hosts?

I learnt the other day that almost one third of the around 5k workers who died to construct these useless stadia were from Nepal.

RIP to them, and to all the other poor sods who were treated as slaves, and died for the entertainment and sports-washing industry.

Seriously now only care about this for the fact it allows us to get Diaz and Jota closer to returning

Was cleverly one of the tory cunts that @Kopstar liked in the previous ‘bot for PM contest’?

If anyone likes Cleverly they need to be kicked in the groin.

Apparently PM spokesperson has said this is incorrect by Cleverly.

After the guys made a total tit of himself, I assume we will see more of this until we get back to the stage that the PM was misunderstood.

Sure it’s not enough but it is at least good to see some statements from players and associations come out. Hopefully many more to follow, not that Cleverly crap:

Thing is the BBC said they will highlight it but if Cleverly is saying stuff like he is then they are going bash the BBC over it.

Then again you’ve got to wonder if the reversal by the PMs spokesperson is a row back on this.

Its far from enough. At best its a token effort, and falls very short of the correct course of action which is total boycott

When is the deadline to announce final squads? Heard something about November 9th?

Hilarious… :joy:

In news that surprises no one

This World Cup is going to be a damp squib.

Horrible, absolutely horrible. All the FIFA reps who voted for this country to get the world cup should be placed against a wall and receive a bullet in the head.

Absolute fucking shambles.

Fox is the home of the world cup in the US and this is the last tournament on their contract. If this is a flop and the rights for the next version tank in response that could set football back here a generation.

Could be worth it to take the tournament off fox though.

I can’t understand why the hell Qatar was even put forward as a potential World Cup host candidate in the first place. It is a tiny country, all those stadiums are going to be dismantled after the tournament. The World Cup has disrupted the game schedule in the middle of most major football leagues in Europe and South America. I blame that moron Sepp Blatter.

The Qataris will probably turn a blind eye to such things drunkeness behaviour to show the world they are a tolerant and welcoming country and go back to running a tight ship after the football fans and dignitaries go back home.

It is so wrong.

I would just love it, if all the fans came out with rainbow flags and they waved it in the host nation’s ruler family’s faces and Elton John and Lady Gaga opening the show and we top it off with Village people.

They put themselves forward, like every other bid does. They were laughed out of town because of the impossibility of hosting a summer tournament in the desert and they said they could do it. The FIFA Ex Co said they believed them, and so awarded them the tournament and then subsequently moved it to the winter blowing up the world football calendar for a 3 year period and then cleared themselves of any wrong doing.

The irony is that very few leagues in the world are not disrupted by this, eithier they started and finished early or are taking a break (bar China but who the hell knows what’s going on there).

As for US, surely the next one will be wanted as they host it with Canada and Mexico.
