Florian WIRTZ: 2025/26

For context… Full Kicker interview

Enable translated subtitles

Two games that have shown this lad has a lot learn about the league.
At the moment he looks like an u10 playing in the U16 league.

Leverkusener here…

because Kicker and other German tabloids have many Bayern fanboys as editors. Some journalists thought that the best German player should play for the best German club after all. The rest of Germany and us Leverkusen fans see it completely differently, of course, because we don’t want to strengthen the competition, and everyone (except Bayern themselves) hates Bayern. There’s a German saying: The devil always shits on the biggest pile. This time we were very happy that he took a dump on Liverpool.

Take good care of him; he will definitely thrill you yet…

Didn’t he take a dump on Munich… also I assume it has a word. It’s not German otherwise.

It’s got the press out of step with the public type vibes.

Thanks for your assessment, and welcome to TAN. Although Flo hasn’t really hit the ground running yet, everyone can see his quality, especially when he has the ball in tight spaces. I’m looking forward to the moment when he’ll start to fully show his worth. It will be a joy to behold!

I’ve been going to the pitch since 1978 and I’ve seen a lot of excellent players on our team. Lucio, Emmerson, Ballack, Havertz, Bernd Schuster, Rudi Völler, Berbatov, Vidal, etc…
But I’ve never seen a player like Wirtz. Florian has incredible vision and always knows where his teammates are best positioned. He has a good finish, is extremely strong in 1-on-1 situations, and always comes up with something. You notice immediately when he’s missing (as is the case now). And he has an unbridled will to win, always wants to win, wants to become the best player in the world. He tore his cruciate ligament and came back stronger than before. A little patience and you’ll be clicking your tongues too.

Top notch contribution, @Unbeaten.

Tell us more about yourself…on a scale of 1-10, how hilarious do you find Manchester United’s current predicament?

After he was replaced in the game yesterday, I’ve since read Wirtz said he didn’t know he could get cramp in so many places at the same time :0)
Whether he still has a long way to go in reaching his own dizzy heights or not, we have secured 9points out of a possible 9 with him stuttering along… just imagine when he slides into automatic overdrive in the latter stages of the CL when we will need each member of the squad performing out of their skin…
Signs are good… We might be witnessing the greatest team ever, being slowly assembled and brought to optimum performance

Why is the bag hanging in the air?

Is he doing national service? He looks like one of our Bundeswehr trainees.

Yes, I also thought it looked like he was just back home from a combat zone.
