I’m just curious as to why they chose Blackpool. (It was probably somewhere near Blackpool - possibly because they also wanted to show him around the Liverpool area on the quiet, but Blackpool has a reputation for being a bit of a naff resort.)

Driving from Blackpool to Liverpool means they could have taken the sightseeing route through Southport, Formby etc… This way they could show him a typical abode and surrounding beaches/areas where some of the players already reside…

At least they are a bit better sorted with it. When Jan Molby signed in the 80s, my uncle sorted out his bank account for him. He asked my uncle where a nice place to live was and my uncle mentioned in passing that he had just bought a house in Greasby on the Wirral. Molby then bought a rather large house on the same estate which was right next to a primary school. He didn’t get a moments peace because the kids kept calling around asking for autographs.
