Anything after that until ‘bid accepted’ is bullshit.
As if guys like Romano or Joyce taking part in the negotiations.

Yeah. Rio’s fee was astronomical for the time. It took about 10 years for anyone else to come close again for a defender, but one he arrived and started playing the size of the fee was never really discussed again because, as much of a prick as he is, he was the right player for them. Same with Virgil for us, just without being a prick.
Hopefully will be proven wrong but, on this deal only, I’m not sure we’ve really done much negotiating when you consider the fees/add ons being speculated. Hughes still too hungover? ,
