It doesn’t make any sense from a PSR point of view. If we value Elliot at £40m, Leverkusen end up booking 40m less than the value of Wirtz, and we book nothing for Elliott.
As you say, separate deals is the way clubs go.

I don’t think it gets this far if the two clubs aren’t in the right ballpark. I suspect what is being negotiated if the structure of the deal, the proportion of add ons etc.
2 days ago all the ITKs thought we’d agreed base price and were just sorting added triggers and timing
I’d say it’s all bs speculation at this point and most likely gets done in the next week in Principle at least.
This delay makes me lose faith in Walshy.
Soon…does soon mean a different thing to these people?
Nothing tweet. Just engagement farming.
This is the the trouble with the likes of Fabrizio who gets paid per hits on a tweet. Ive no doubt he has good contacts but a lot of his tweets are the typical “how to give you an update without giving you an update” tweet.
I miss the days of coming home, flicking on Ceefax, typing in 302 for football and seeing the likes of IAN RUSH SEALS RETURN TO LIVERPOOL flashing at the top.
It was better when no one knew what was going on. These deals take ages to sort especially nowadays.
Due to all the tweets it feels like this deal has dragged on but it hasnt really - it was only 10 days ago that he confirmed he only wanted LFC and the clubs began talks late last week.
More talks this week and im sure it will be sorted. Bayer arent getting 150m they just need to be seen to be playing hardball for their fans and for other clubs who want to buy one of their players.
As you already suggested…we are selling a dream package.
“Win the league and get a free trip to Dubai…we have a lovely gym…the coffee dock is nice…we have dress up in your own clothes two days a year”
I jave been on the Wirtz bus from the beginning, but if Bayer are wanting too much we havevto stick to the valuation we believe, we don’t want to be perceived as soft touches, like Manure, and pay over the odds
I dont have any concerns here. FSG arent going to make a deal for a player that would destabilise the clubs finances or prevent it from doing other work the club has prioritised. A deal of this size was always going to have lots of time needed to iron out the structure / add ons…and in truth its probably not even taking all that long. It just feels that way because of the way the story broke.
There have been very few players that Liverpool have gone over and beyond.
If FSG believe that Wirtz is a signing worth paying 130m , he probably is.
lol, “talks are going well, blah blah blah…”
And I don’t want them to change, as I said I think Wirtz is a game changer and would be a massive success as he has all the tools I like to see in and attacking midfield player
It’s a very significant amount.
But it also shows that we aren’t ready to accept alternate targets. Which was the case for Alisson and VVD.
We’re not selling anything to the player - that’s done. And I would bet anything the working culture at LFC was part of that.
This is a negotiation with Leverkusen, and they don’t give a shit about a coffee bar.
Ah lighten up…
It was a joke related to our conversation regarding the tail off post Spurs…
Florian Plettenberg @Plettigoal
That’s true btw, it is very close by. Presumably, all air traffic is now monitored non-stop
